Bards play a supporting role in combat through the use of songs, a single one of which can turn the tide of battle.

In-game description.

The Bard is a job in Bravely Default II. It specializes in party-wide support buffs, able to give the party buffs to a variety of stats by using its Singing commands. It also has some abilities to also buff solo targets as well as to use songs that damage enemies and put them to sleep as non-elemental magic attacks.

The Bard has pretty average stats all around, with decent stats in magic attack, restorative power, and MP, making it a decent job to pair with a magic attacking or healing sub job.

The Bard Asterisk holder is Orpheus Tragoidia, the former court minstrel of Musa, who is fought in the Sandswept Ruins while trying to cover up his boss Bernard’s theft of the Water Crystal. Even after losing the Asterisk, Orpheus is still able to perform some of the songs he learned from it.
