Blizzaja (ブリザジャ, Burizaja?) is a recurring water-elemental spell in the Bravely series. When it appears, it is the fourth and highest tier of the water-elemental spells available to players in each installment, being the version following Blizzaga, though it is not part of Black Magic. Rather, it can only be learned by battling certain Sin Beasts from Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light.

Appearances[]

Bravely Default[]

Blizzaja is a genome ability, part of the Vampirism command, learned from the Nemeses Mammon, Leviathan, and Belphegor by getting hit with their use of it. It deals a tremendous amount of water damage to all targets. It costs 99 MP to use. Like its fellow -ja spells, and unlike genome abilities besides them, it deals magical damage rather than physical damage and does not show up in the list of genome abilities in D's Journal.

Bravely Second: End Layer[]

Blizzaja is a level 3 Diabolism spell. It deals a tremendous amount of water damage to all targets and cannot be reflected. It costs 99 MP to use. It can only be used after defeating the Sin Beast Mammon, found at the obelisk in the Florem region, who uses the spell in battle.

Etymology[]

A blizzard is a severe snowstorm caused by strong sustained winds of at least 56 km/h (35 mph) and lasting for a prolonged period of time – typically three hours or more.

Blizzaja originates from the Final Fantasy series of games, being introduced in Final Fantasy Tactics as a tremendously powerful ice-elemental Black Magic spell. Though it is not part of Black Magic in the Bravely series, it maintains its connection to the three Black Magic Blizzard spells, with the "-ja" suffix denoting that it is the level four form of the base Blizzard spell.
