Ringabel[]

Profile

Though my memory is gone, this name seems engraved upon my mind somehow. A tattered journal is my sole remaining possession. Who am I?

A man of unknown age, currently experiencing amnesia. Clearly a man of high morals. Taciturn and reflective, I believe I am a gentleman well-liked by all.

  • Likes: Spicy things, juicy things
  • Dislikes: Sweet things
Intro

Who am I? I've been asking around town the past few days, but I am met by blank stares or laughter. Women simply turn tail with furrowed brow. Why am I here? At night I visit this cottage. I feel a sense of nostalgia here. I wonder about that gaunt man, and the girl glaring at him with daggers in her eyes...

Agnès is the wind vestal. I never heard that from anyone. I seem to have known it for a long time. I've seen her around town in the company of Tiz the past few days. According to this journal, they are about to set off on an epic journey to close the Great Chasm. Once they reach the black mage's keep, they are sure to run into that girl. I must see her...

Added after the events in Centro Keep

After going to the ruins of Centro Keep in pursuit of the black mage Ominas Crowe, who set the town on fire, a quarrel ensued. The girl Edea finally lost her temper with the gaunt man, who cast his magic on foe and ally alike. She asked us to help her dispatch him, and we agreed, as that had been our goal all along. Thus, our journey together began.

Added after the events in Lontano Villa and obtaining the Eschalot

After defeating the knight Heinkel, the airship suddenly lurched downward, there was no one to take the helm! Then I remembered the journal... I asked Edea the name of the airship, but as I spoke, I already knew the answer. The Eschalot! This ship and I have a history. I grabbed the wheel, and brought it under control.

Chapter 1

Added after Alternis Dim appears on the Eschalot

To relieve my churning stomach, I looked out across the Flor-Cheim Inner Sea from the pier. After retrieving a pretty shell I had spotted, I returned to find Agnès nursing Tiz on the bridge. The skystone was lying in pieces nearby. They said that moments after I left, a man in dark armor had burst in...

Chapter 2

Added after visiting Yulyana Woods Needleworks from Florem

I can't believe it! The sage and I were on the verge of convincing her, but our plan was ruined by that spoilsport from Norende! To think we could have seen Agnès's sensuous form wrapped in the bravo bikini at the Sacred Flower Festival... You and that naive smile of yours don't know what you're missing!

Added after talking to DeRosa in Florem

In Florem I was addressed by a middle-aged man accompanied by a woman. He spouted some nonsense about a double date and his technique, then vanished into the night. Though he didn't say it outright, I feel like my manliness has been brought into question! I asked Edea what he had meant about technique, but she just gave me a cold stare.

Added after defeating DeRosa in the Cellar Laboratory beneath Florem

Edea wore the bravo bikini, and who should take the bait but the red mage Fiore DeRosa, head of the Bloodrose Legion! We tracked DeRosa to his underground laboratory, and foiled the scheme he was planning for Florem. I'll make more notes later.

Chapter 3

Added after resting at the Goodman residence in Hartschild

Datz led us to Hartschild, town of the Shieldbearers. After meeting the wife of Commander Goodman, I caught a glimpse of a slender woman of great beauty! I asked her name, but perhaps too shy, she did not answer. She fled, and I pursued her. In a corner of town she caught me off guard with a sharp whack, and gave me the slip. Talk about playing hard to get!

Added after rescuing Egil in the Underflow

The ground fell out from beneath Egil's feet! We could not grab him in time, and though Tiz rushed to save him, they both fell toward the lava below... Then Agnès hurtled out from the cliff and caught them both! We hauled them up, and shared a relieved laugh when it was clear no harm had been done, aside from the mud on our faces.

Added after using the orichalcum to power Grandship

Grandship has stopped sinking. It seems it will not founder after all. While wandering about in the council hall, I found a switch glowing with a faint light. Curiosity got the better of me, and I flicked it on impulsively. What a shock it was to learn that Grandship could fly... (A BIG shock! —Edea)

Added after discovering Konoe Kikyo's ruse

Stuck inside the Goodman residence, we placed the murdered servant Nastassja in bed. Something struck me as odd, and ignoring the stares of the others, I began to prod the body. Sudden she came back to life and began to babble, revealing her true identity and the details of her deception. She was the one who had rebuffed me earlier!

Chapter 4

Added after defeating Alternis aboard Grandship

The dark knight's helm was knocked to the ground, revealing a face identical to mine. He went overboard moments later. Despite the shock I felt, something clicked in my mind. Tiz retrieved a journal that appeared the same as the one I carry. Just then, the ship began to shake more violently. As we returned to the bridge, we were bathed in bright light...

Chapter 5

Added after Ringabel rejoins the party in Caldisla

They came back from the site of the chasm, and it is apparently still there. A part of me was not surprised to discover that the face of the dark knight we unmasked at the Holy Pillar mirrored my own, but my memory remains foggy. I agreed to follow Tiz, though I still cannot give Agnès a clear answer to her questions.

Added after defeating Alternis aboard Grandship

The second world, the second Holy Pillar... Tiz asked me to make a note of the events here. As expected, the dark knight Alternis Dim attacked, and was foiled. When I saw that familiar face again, something fell into place! I fainted, and awoke surrounded by light...

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Alternis aboard Grandship in Chapter 5

The third world... Beyond the second Holy Pillar, the Great Chasm still yawned before us. Seeing the face of the dark knight Alternis Dim has rekindled some of my memory, but I feel more confused than ever. The number six, my friends slaughtered... I have a splitting headache. Tiz came to see me as I got some air on deck. I am the dark knight, and this world...

Added after awakening three crystals

After awakening the third crystal in the third world, most of my memory returned. Tiz visited me on the deck again. I asked him to tell Agnès how the pattern on Airy's wings changed between worlds, without alerting the fairy. He agreed to my request.

Added after defeating Alternis in Edea's room in Eternian Central Command

In the third world, Sage Yulyana showed me one of the cruel endings that fate could have in store for me. I saw the Alternis Dim of this world, wailing in pain and on the brink of insanity, having lost all hope at Edea's death. He left, after saying he wished he could have died in her place. I had much to think on...

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Braev the Templar, Kamiizumi, and Alternis atop Eternian Central Command

The templar stood calmly in the chambers of the Council of Six. As if awaiting our arrival, he looked back and addressed the dark knight Alternis Dim, scolding his son for staying at his side despite his wishes. He and his daughter recognized Alternis as family. Then, they finished the conversation with blades in hand. Afterwards, he did me the honor of calling me son, too...

Tiz Arrior[]

Profile
The Miracle

A young man, and sole survivor of the Great Chasm. After waking, he had a fateful encounter with the wind vestal, Agnès.

A nineteen-year-old boy from Norende. A simple and honest soul, he has a gentle and amiable demeanor that makes him well-liked. He acts as a mediator between friends, and often ends up with a lot on his plate (for which I am partly responsible).

  • Likes: Hot home cooking, seafood
  • Dislikes: Gaudy baubles, crowds
Intro

Hearing that the Eternian Sky Knights planned to attack the town unless they handed over the vestal, Agnès secretly decided to give herself up to save the people. Tiz sensed Agnès's resolve, and offered to accompany her as a guide. He managed to keep her safe, and defeated the monk and white mage!

I asked to accompany the Wind Vestal to the ruins of Centro Keep to the north of town, where they intended to confront the black mage Ominas Crowe. When I revealed that their names and purpose were written in my journal, and told them I wished to meet the girl there, the vestal grew suspicious. She would have left me behind if Tiz had not intervened.

Added after the events in Centro Keep

We clashed with the black mage Ominas Crowe deep within the ruins of Centro Keep. Shocked that Ominas would use his magic indiscriminately, Edea declared she would side with us against him, despite us being the enemy. This flustered Tiz, but I welcomed her aboard, and together we trounced that fiend Ominas.

Chapter 3

Added after encountering Egil at the entrance to the Mythril Mines

I now know why Tiz is so protective of Egil. Egil must remind him of his brother, who was swallowed by the Great Chasm... We have already spoken several times about his trouble sleeping. After pledging to work together to ensure that Egil came to no harm, we hurried off toward the mythril mine.

Added after rescuing Egil in the Underflow

Tiz may have been rash to leap in alone to save Egil, but Agnès was just as reckless to catch them as they fell... We laughed together at Tiz's folly and Agnès's good timing. Things have been tense between us since Florem, but I feel as if the air has now been cleared.

Chapter 4

Added after defeating Alternis aboard Grandship

We awakened the four crystals, and approached the Holy Pillar as Airy had bid us. A deadly struggle took place when we were attacked by the dark knight. Upon our victory, I caught a glimpse of his face... As I stood confused and shocked, Grandship began to shake, and we were enveloped in light!

Chapter 5

Added after Agnès and Tiz return from the Vestment Cave

We visited the sage after the vestal garb became threadbare. He asked Agnès to take one that she trusted to meet him, then abruptly left. She chose Tiz, and together they went to see the sage. Apparently, 1,800 years ago the sage and Lord DeRosso encountered an angel, who spoke of a number of omens regarding the crystals.

Chapter 6

Added after Agnès and Tiz return from the Vestment Cave

Most of my memory returned after we awakened three crystals in the third world. At my request, Tiz and Agnès went to visit the sage. He told Agnès the whole story behind what I had remembered, and the secrets he had heard from the angel 1,800 years ago. Tiz returned to us in high spirits.

Added after checking the marked grave in Caldisla

In the third world, we visited the graveyard in Caldisla, and came across a headstone with Tiz's name engraved upon it. It seems that in this world, it was Tiz who perished in the Great Chasm.

Added after finding Til at the Great Chasm

In the third world, the sage showed Tiz an alternate fate. In this world, it was Tiz's brother Til who survived. None of the village had been rebuilt, and the area teemed with monsters. At the sight of Tiz, Til rushed to embrace him. Tiz struggled over whether to stay here and rebuild the village with his brother...

The End

Added after defeating Ouroboros in the Infernal Realm

Six months after defeating Ouroboros, the Bringer of Ruin, we gathered in Caldisla as we had promised. Egil welcomed us back to the town where the four of us met. At the top of the hill, we found Tiz curled up next to his brother Til's grave, quiet and unmoving.

Agnès Oblige[]

Profile
The Wind Vestal

Of the Oblige line, she met Airy on a hill above the chasm. She encountered Tiz as foretold after he miraculously escaped death.

A twenty-year-old girl from Ancheim. As a vestal, she has devoted her life to the crystals. She escaped the Temple of Wind after it was overrun by dark forces, and came to investigate the Great Chasm. She has absolutely no sense of direction.

  • Likes: Sweet treats
  • Dislikes: Meat, crowds, being lost
Intro

I asked to accompany Agnès, who was heading to the ruins of Centro Keep to take on arsonist and black mage Ominas Crowe. She grew wary when I spoke of knowing her mission to close the chasm. Her suspicions only increased when I said I wished to meet the girl serving under the black mage. She glared at me as if I had just confessed to some heinous crime...

Added after the events in Centro Keep

At Centro Keep, Edea turned on the black mage Ominas and joined us, and thus our journey began. Agnès was still wary, and suspected me of having some ulterior motive. I showed her the writings in my journal to ease her fears, but she only grew more suspicious... This vestal is a tough woman to convince!

Added after the events in Lontano Villa and obtaining the Eschalot

After a deadly battle, we managed to defeat the knight Heinkel, but then the airship began to plummet! Just then I remembered seeing the airship's name, the Eschalot, in my journal. I found myself familiar with her controls. Taking the helm, I plotted a course for Ancheim, the Land of Sand and Time, and site of the Temple of Wind that Agnès calls home.

Chapter 1

Added after delivering the rainbow thread to Sage Yulyana

We visited the sage of Yulyana Woods to entreat him to make the garb necessary for the Rite of Awakening. After we retrieved the rainbow thread from the cave as requested, the sage worked through the night to complete the vestal garb. He and Agnès spoke until the early hours of the morning.

Added after returning to Ancheim from awakening the Wind Crystal

Agnès held the Tempest's Braid aloft, and the crowd's whispers turned to cheers. We slew the creature Orthros, who had latched onto the crystal in the Temple of Wind. Then, at Airy's bidding, we performed the Rite of Awakening. After returning to Ancheim, Agnès silenced the king's criticism and addressed the people. As her speech ended, the wind returned!

Chapter 2

Added after visiting Yulyana Woods Needleworks from Florem

The Sacred Flower Festival was about to begin, when the bravo bikini plan the sage and I concocted was ruined by that stick-in-the-mud Tiz. "Show them you, as you are" he says... "Why don't you wear the vestal garb?" he says... Though his words brought a smile to Agnès's face that cast her in a beautiful light, the outcome was most frustrating!

Added after finding Olivia in the Western Hidden Village beyond the Twilight Ruins

Though Agnès's speech at the Sacred Flower Festival fell flat with the crowd, her words reached the vestal Olivia. Agnès was in such a hurry to meet her friend, she did not notice she was being pursued. Reunited at last, Agnès and Olivia shared a joyful embrace. However, a single blast of magic from the arcanist Victoria tore them apart forever...

Added after awakening the Water Crystal

The water vestal's demise removed the shield around the Water Crystal, and it fell into the clutches of evil. After a desperate struggle in which we defeated the creature Rusalka, the distraught Agnès awakened the Water Crystal, cleansing the seas of the world.

Chapter 3

Added after awakening the Fire Crystal

Tiz put his life in danger to save Egil, but thanks to Agnès's quick action, no harm came to them. After reaching the Temple of Fire, we defeated the creature Chaugmar that lurked there, and awakened the Fire Crystal.

Chapter 4

Added after defeating Alternis aboard Grandship

After awakening the Earth Crystal, the Holy Pillar appeared. Led by Airy, we breached the pillar aboard Grandship to begin the ritual to seal the chasm. The dark knight intercepted us under orders from Braev the Templar, but we bested him. I caught a glimpse of his face... It mirrored mine, and he carried the same journal. Confusion followed, then we were taken by the light...

Added after inspecting the final painting after defeating Lord DeRosso in Vampire Castle

After an epic battle, Lord DeRosso showed us a painting of the angel that had descended during his last battle with the sage... It was the spitting image of Agnès. The angel told of the coming of the evil one, who would lead the vestals astray. A great chasm would herald its coming... It seems the angel's omens had set the wheels of fate turning for all of us.

Chapter 5

Added after Agnès and Tiz return from the Vestment Cave

Choosing Tiz to accompany her, Agnès headed to meet the sage. He spoke of an endless struggle with Lord DeRosso, and of meeting the angel that foretold the coming of doom. They returned to us bewildered and more than a little incredulous at what they had been told, such as how the angel had looked just like Agnès...

Chapter 6

Added after Agnès and Tiz return from the Vestment Cave

To tell Agnès of the memory I had regained without alerting Airy, Tiz took her to visit the sage. They spoke of the wing patterns I had remembered, of the pendant the angel told the sage about, and of the evil one... It must have been hard for Agnès to hear, but I saw resolve in their eyes when they returned.

Added after defeating the Venus sisters in the Western Hidden Village beyond the Twilight Ruins

In the third world, the sage showed Agnès another possible ending to her story. She could take the place of the Agnès of this world, who had perished, and live a carefree life with the water vestal, who yet lived here. This chance to enjoy a peace she could not experience anywhere else presented Agnès with a dilemma.

Finale

Added after triggering the breaking of a crystal

Agnès continued to pray, ignoring Airy's warnings. Airy then transformed into a vile monster, and we struggled desperately to protect Agnès as she kept up her chant. The crystal shattered, sending Airy's plans up in smoke. Shaking with rage, Airy slaughtered us all, but we were resurrected by the voice in the pendant.

The End

Added after visiting Yulyana Woods Needleworks

Airy revealed her true ambitions after we passed the fifth Holy Pillar, and transformed into a monster to attack us. We defeated her in the battle that ensued, but were left in shock at what had happened. We visited the sage, and heard the voice of the angel he had met long ago. It seems this was the voice of an Agnès from a world before we had all met...

Added after defeating Ouroboros in the Infernal Realm

Ouroboros devoured the multitude of worlds that Airy had linked together. As long as we fought, the worlds our friends called home would continue to be eaten away... This strain caused Agnès to lose heart, and she collapsed to her knees. Just then, the pendant began to glow with light, and we heard friendly voices from beyond time and space!

Edea Lee[]

Profile

A beautiful girl who served under the black mage when Caldisla was set alight. Unable to forgive the duchy's brutality, she switched allegiance to the vestal.

An eighteen-year-old girl hailing from Eternia. On first impression, she appears to be a spoiled princess type. However, while strong-willed and opinionated, she is also kind and filled with a sense of justice. She never shies away from a conflict.

  • Likes: REALLY sweet things
  • Dislikes: Cooking, hassle, insects
Intro

Added after the events in Centro Keep

I accompanied the wind vestal Agnès to the ruins of Centro Keep. There we encountered Edea, whose rage at the cowardly methods of the black mage Ominas Crowe caused her to revolt against him. She told us she would join our cause, and together we defeated the dastardly black mage.

Chapter 1

Added after Alternis Dim appears on the Eschalot

While I got some air, we were boarded by the dark knight, a leader of the Eternian forces, who proceeded to smash the skystone. Tiz was knocked unconscious, and Agnès came close to capture until Edea intervened. It seems the dark knight is a member of the Council of Six that rules over the duchy, and a childhood friend of Edea...

Chapter 2

Added after boarding the Eschalot after awakening the Water Crystal

A sullen mood hung over us as we sailed the inner sea. Then, out of nowhere, Edea offered an apology. She told us she knew the arcanist Victoria who murdered the water vestal Olivia, and that she was the daughter of the grand marshal, head of the Council of Six. This shocking revelation only deepened the tension between us.

Added after defeating Einheria at the Northern Hidden Village in the Witherwood

The hidden village of the Crystalists lay beyond the Witherwood in northern Florem. There, Edea confronted the valkyrie Einheria Venus of the Bloodrose Legion. It seems they trained together in their homeland, and were as sisters. But they could no longer see eye to eye, and their differences tore them apart.

Added after defeating DeRosa in the Cellar Laboratory beneath Florem

Edea used the bravo bikini, which she had for some reason taken from the sage, to entice the red mage Fiore DeRosa! This poorly fitting attire not only caught DeRosa's attention, it got her kidnapped. After a desperate pursuit, we finally located Edea, and bested DeRosa in battle to put an end to his dark ambitions.

Chapter 3

Added after encountering Kamiizumi en route to Eisen Bridge

We left the house by the sea, but en route to the Shieldbearer headquarters we encountered Swordmaster Kamiizumi. If Edea had not sensed danger and pushed Agnès to the ground, her life may have been forfeit. The master and his former disciple exchanged heated words, ending only with the news that the Swordbearers' attack had failed...

Added after defeating Kamiizumi in the Starkfort War Room

Swordmaster Kamiizumi awaited us on the top floor of Starkfort, lair of the Swordbearers, which was abuzz with the news of their defeat. He spoke with Edea in quiet tones, recognizing her conviction, while ultimately following his own beliefs as well. Upon his defeat, he urged her to speak to her father. She wept as life left his body.

Chapter 4

Added after speaking with Edea's mother in Eternia's Central Healing Tower

We visited Edea's mother where she was receiving treatment, and she welcomed us despite knowing we accompanied the wind vestal. It seems the people of Eternia, including Edea's mother, were sustained by white magic cables linked to the Earth Crystal. Torn between her convictions and her humanity, Edea bravely pushed us to proceed with the awakening.

Added after visiting Gravemark Village

Beyond the eastern passage from the city, we found an abandoned village littered with gravestones. An old man there who continued to tend the graves told us the village was the birthplace of Edea's parents.

Added after Edea arrives at Eternian Central Command's Prison

After defeating Victor and Victoria, we set out for the top floor of Central Command, but were put to sleep by a strange bat-like creature. Edea was taken to another room, while the rest of us were locked in the dungeon. After speaking to her father, Edea came to our rescue, using a secret passage in the room she had used as a child.

Added after defeating Braev the Templar atop Eternian Central Command

Edea followed through with her convictions and defeated her own father. She then faced cutting short the life of her mother. Lord DeRosso arrived in time to save the wounded Braev. He said the templar had advanced medicine by 100 years, and with a soft laugh told Edea her mother would not perish if the crystal were awakened.

Added after defeating Alternis aboard Grandship

We entered the Holy Pillar, but as Airy began to meditate the deck started shaking! The dark knight had come to do battle with us at the templar's behest. A desperate struggle ensued, but we emerged victorious. Alternis Dim lost his helm in the melee, revealing a face identical to mine. He then fell from the ship. Before we could take stock of the situation, a light enveloped us...

Added after leaving the area from defeating Lord DeRosso in Vampire Castle

Before leaving, Edea asked how Lord DeRosso and Sage Yulyana could forgive the templar for rising in revolt. Lord DeRosso explained the bond of trust between the sage, the templar, and him, and how the templar had acted in the interests of the people of the world.

Chapter 5

Added after Edea rejoins the party in Caldisla

Despite Edea betraying both family and homeland to awaken the crystals, the Great Chasm still loomed before us... What's more, Edea was still with us, though in this world Ominas Crowe had only just finished setting the town alight. She was left stunned. Tiz said all we could do was start again, and the rest of us agreed.

Added after speaking to the Gossipmonger in Eternia

We heard the tale of the one true love of the templar and the swordmaster from a man in Eternia. It seems when they were young, they dueled for three days and nights over the right to proposition Edea's mother. Hearing this, a look of dawning realization came over Edea's face...

Added after speaking with Edea's mother regarding the Gossipmonger's rumors

Edea's mother told her the truth behind the templar and swordmaster's duel. Rather than a scandalous fight over a woman, her story told of three young people's noble actions taken for friendship, love and idealism. She ended with the admonition to never forget what her father's dear friend had done for their family.

Added after speaking to the Gossipmonger and Edea's mother

In the second world, Edea confronted Swordmaster Kamiizumi at Starkfort regarding the love triangle she had heard about in Eternia. She asked if it was true that he fought unwillingly for her mother's sake. A sorrowful look came over his face as he rebuked her, calling her a fool.

Added after defeating Braev the Templar atop Eternian Central Command

As we faced Braev the Templar in the second world, he spoke of the reasons for his uprising fifteen years earlier. He claimed he was forced to act when the Orthodoxy turned its back on the people, and attempted a foolish undertaking called the Grand Ritual that would endanger the crystals. He said a vestal awakening the crystals put them at similar risk.

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Kamiizumi in the Starkfort War Room

We confronted Swordmaster Kamiizumi on the top floor of Starkfort, lair of the Swordbearers. The desperate struggle between estranged master and disciple was a grim sight to behold. The master fell at the hands of his student, and she could do nothing but weep as his life slipped away.

Added after defeating Kamiizumi in the Starkfort War Room

At the Swordbearer stronghold, Edea laid her soul bare before Swordmaster Kamiizumi. She thanked him for his unwavering friendship and support to her father, and the affection he had shown her. She also begged his forgiveness for her ignorant actions. He was pleased to hear her change of heart, and offered her a long overdue lesson.

Added after defeating Braev the Templar in the Central Healing Tower in Eternia

In the third world, Sage Yulyana showed Edea another path... She could take the place of the deceased Edea of this world, and live on with her mother and father here. She was visibly moved at the thought of enjoying the warmth of family life, and getting to know the kind side of her father's love that she had not seen before.

Added after defeating the Venus sisters in the Western Hidden Village beyond the Twilight Ruins

In our path stood the three Venus sisters: the valkyrie Einheria, the summoner Mephilia, and the ranger Artemia. We bested them in an epic battle, and they covered each other as they withdrew. Edea, who studied alongside Einheria, couldn't help but smile at seeing their sisterly affection for one another.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Braev the Templar, Kamiizumi, and Alternis atop Eternian Central Command

The templar lay in wait for us in the Council Chamber of the fourth world. He recognized that Edea had matured, and chided his son the dark knight for disobeying orders to stay and protect him. We could scarcely believe our ears, but Edea just laughed and called him "fool brother." It was a special moment for me and my counterpart clad in dark armor.

Airy[]

Profile

A tiny cryst-fairy who came to guide the vestal in the crystals' hour of need. She said a miracle would appear before Agnès at the chasm.

A female of unknown age. This self-proclaimed cryst-fairy seems to know much about the crystals and the path the vestal should take. With regard to anything else, however, she tends to act like a precocious, fussy crybaby.

  • Likes: Crystals, Agnès
  • Dislikes: Children, Ringabel
Chapter 1

Added after returning to Ancheim from awakening the Wind Crystal

As we reached the crystal with vestal garb ready, we found a creature latched onto it. Airy identified it as Orthros, the Bringer of Doom. We defeated the monster, and under Airy's guidance, Agnès awakened the Wind Crystal and banished the darkness around it to restore its shield. The wind crest on Airy's brooch lit up.

Chapter 2

Added after visiting the Water Crystal for the first time

Upon reaching the Temple of Water, we found the Water Crystal protected by a shield, though darkness was still slowly devouring it. Airy thinks the shield was put in place by the water vestal, Olivia. Though Tiz was eager to find Olivia, Airy said the shield of a vestal could be removed by another vestal, allowing the crystal to be awakened.

Chapter 4

Added after defeating Alternis aboard Grandship

With the awakening of the Earth Crystal at Everlast Tower, we had unleashed the power of all four crystals on this world. The Holy Pillar appeared as Airy foretold, and she went into a state of meditation to perform a final rite that would close the Great Chasm and save the world from darkness. After fending off an attack by the dark knight, we were enveloped in a bright light...

Chapter 5

Added after Agnès and Airy rejoin the party at the Norende Ravine Peak

Though we had entered the Holy Pillar and performed Airy's rite, when we awoke, the Great Chasm was still there. What is more, the seas once again festered, and the light had gone from Airy's brooch. Airy says she remembers nothing since she began meditating at the Holy Pillar.

Added after Agnès and Tiz enter the Vestment Cave

We visited the sage to ask him to repair the tattered vestal garb. He told Agnès to choose the one she trusts most, and she took Tiz with her to the cave to meet him. Airy, who has so far devoted herself to Agnès thoroughly as a cryst-fairy, was so shocked at not being chosen as to lose her appetite.

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Alternis aboard Grandship

We awakened all the crystals in the second world, and the Holy Pillar appeared once more. We entered it prepared, and fought off the dark knight before again being surrounded by light. As before, we awoke in the inn at Caldisla. The seas were again putrid, and the chasm still a gaping scar on the land... Airy once more said she remembered nothing.

Added after awakening three crystals

In this third world, or perhaps the fourth for me, I experienced repeated headaches and my memory slowly began to return. The pattern on Airy's wings was changing each time we went through the Holy Pillar... I told Tiz of Airy's true nature.

Chapter 7

Added after entering the Holy Pillar in Chapter 6

In the fourth world, we entered the Holy Pillar a third time, but the Great Chasm remained. Airy yet again said she had no memory of what had happened...

Profile 2

Added after defeating Airy aboard Grandship in The End

Airy suddenly turned into something resembling a monstrous larva, and attacked us. Agnès was stunned, but the creature only snickered at how it had fooled us all...

After Airy was defeated in her hideous larva-like form, she changed into an even more repulsive pupal beast, and set upon us again!

Finale

Added after triggering the breaking of a crystal

After Agnès ignored Airy's call to stop praying, she revealed her true colors, transforming into a larva-like creature. We struggled to protect Agnès from Airy's attacks, but when the crystal shattered she slew us all, with even Agnès dying at her hand. Airy then headed into the Dark Aurora...

Added after defeating Airy at the Altar of Darkness within the Dark Aurora

We fought for our lives against Airy at the Altar of Darkness. After defeating her hideous larva-like form, we eked out a victory against the pupal monstrosity that next emerged. As she faced oblivion, she heralded the coming of Lord Ouroboros. Is our long struggle not yet over?

The End

Added after defeating Airy aboard Grandship

Beyond the fifth Holy Pillar, we awoke on the bridge of Grandship. We heard Airy squeal with glee, and thinking the chasm had closed we rushed to the deck. However, we were once again greeted by its gaping maw... We asked Airy to explain herself, but at that moment her voice changed. She transformed into a horrible beast, and attacked us...

Added after arriving at the Altar of Darkness within the Dark Aurora

Airy's prayers at the Altar of Darkness were answered, and she took on her ultimate form, more beautiful and frightful than ever. Pulsing with delight, she leapt to the attack.

Added after defeating Airy at the Altar of Darkness within the Dark Aurora

The ominous light seeping from the Altar of Darkness revived Airy's ultimate form time and again. Just as we despaired at the endless struggle before us, the light disappeared, and Airy was devoured by the one called Ouroboros.

Added after defeating Ouroboros in the Infernal Realm

I cannot believe it... Airy had a sister!?

Captain Owen[]

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Alternis aboard Grandship

Beyond the Holy Pillar, we once again found ourselves at the inn in Caldisla in the third world. The innkeep seemed to know nothing of us, and told us the boy who survived the Great Chasm that swallowed Norende Village was saved by his older brother. He then hurried back to his work.

Added after the events in Lontano Villa and obtaining the Eschalot

The knight Heinkel attacked the palace, struck down Owen, and kidnapped the king. Thanks to our quick action, the king was rescued safe and sound. He showed his gratitude by bestowing upon us the airship that we captured from the Sky Knights, to help us aid Agnès in her mission.

Chapter 3

Added after bringing Egil to Caldisla

We brought Egil to Caldisla to cheer up the innkeep, who was distraught at the loss of his only son, Owen. The king agreed to let Egil use the castle's training hall, and awarded him the young soldier's badge that Owen had treasured. He was also put in charge of rebuilding Norende. Egil got his chance to shine, and the innkeep got the companionship he needed.

In the third world, the king of Caldisla had never met Tiz, and spoke to Agnès as if they were newly acquainted. The king said the boy who repelled the Eternian Sky Knights was named Til Arrior - Tiz's younger brother. He has apparently set off to start rebuilding Norende Village.

After entering the Holy Pillar and being swallowed by the light, we found ourselves back in Caldisla. At the lake to the southwest, we came upon the monk Barras in the company of the white mage Holly. As I had heard, he was a loud brute of a man. It seemed they had just been in battle with someone, but they set upon us before we could ask. We were forced to vanquish them.

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Barras and Holly at the Lake to the Southwest

In the third world, we once again fought the monk Barras and the white mage Holly at the lake to the southwest of Caldisla. They had just been trounced by another force, and I noticed the wounded Holly casting Reraise, but let it go. As expected, we heard loud whispers from behind us after defeating them. We headed away from the lake, trying to suppress our laughter.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Heinkel, Barras, and Ominas at the Ruins of Centro Keep

In the fourth world, while battling the black mage Ominas Crowe at the ruins of Centro Keep, he began to falter. Just then, the monk Barras and the knight Heinkel ran to his side. Taking heart at the brute force they provided, Ominas regained his composure. Though the three of them together made it a tough battle, we prevailed, and they withdrew.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating the Eternian Sky Knights at Lontano Villa

In the fifth world, though orders to fall back to the duchy had been sent out across the lands, the Sky Knights pounced on us as though they were waiting for us. With Holly to heal Barras's wounds as he was hit, and Heinkel to guard his flanks, Barras was able to unleash the full force of his fury. A frenetic battle ensued.

Added after defeating Alternis, Barbarossa, Barras, and Praline at Eternian Central Command

The 49th floor of Central Command was protected by an elite melee force led by the dark knight Alternis Dim. With the melee attacks of Barras and the axe blows of Captain Barbarossa enhanced by the songs of Praline, Diva of the Battlefield, each strike landed with pummeling force. We bested them after a harrowing battle, and they duly let us past.

Chapter 5

Added after defeating Barras and Holly at the Lake to the Southwest

We entered the Holy Pillar, and were sucked into a vortex of light. We awoke in Caldisla, and after heading to the lake to the southwest, we encountered the white mage Holly with the monk Barras. She was as sadistic and provocative as I'd been told. It seems they had fought someone else before us, but they engaged us in battle before we could ask who.

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Barras and Holly at the Lake to the Southwest

In the third world, we once again fought Holly and Barras at the lake southwest of Caldisla. I noticed Holly casting Reraise in the midst of battle, but let it go. As we headed away, I heard loud whispers from behind, sounding like an older sister scolding her brother for not knowing when to give up his games.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Khint, Einheria, and Holly in Eternia

In the fourth world, we saw the white mage Holly in the city of Eternia for the first time. The valkyrie Einheria had planned a skirmish to test our mettle, and Holly joined the fray. After the battle, Einheria warned us of a terrible conspiracy. Holly said she would pass the information on to Victor, then left.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating the Eternian Sky Knights at Lontano Villa

In the fifth world, it seemed the order had been given to fall back to defend Eternia, but the Sky Knights gathered at Lontano Villa as though waiting in ambush for us. In previous worlds, the white mage Holly seemed to fight with less enthusiasm than the monk Barras, but here she thirsted for battle.

Added after defeating Kamiizumi, Heinkel, Holly, and Kikyo at Eternian Central Command

The 48th floor of Central Command was guarded by a formidable defense under Swordmaster Kamiizumi. The ninja Kikyo warned of our approach, her hand gripped by the white mage Holly, who seemed close to tears for some reason. She looked truly ravishing. (Grr! —Edea) We won the battle that followed, and everyone seemed in good spirits.

At the ruins of Centro Keep, the black mage Ominas Crowe and Edea began arguing. It seemed this was the last straw for Edea, and she entreated us to fight him at her side. We took down the black mage together, and Edea joined our motley crew.

Chapter 5

Added after defeating Ominas in the Ruins of Centro Keep

After entering the Holy Pillar and finding ourselves back in Caldisla, we tracked the black mage Ominas Crowe to the ruins of Centro Keep once more. He seemed terrified to see us, and in the midst of battle asked us why we despised him so much. It left us very confused.

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Ominas in the Ruins of Centro Keep

We found the black mage Ominas Crowe at the ruins of Centro Keep in the third world. He scolded Edea for being late. It seemed he had been looking forward to having her under his command. He mistook us for her attendants, and was shocked when he recognized the wind vestal. He attacked, believing Edea to be an illusion, but we prevailed.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Heinkel, Barras, and Ominas at the Ruins of Centro Keep

In the fourth world, the black mage Ominas Crowe once again lurked in the ruins of Centro Keep. He thought us to be intruders, and summoned Bahamut to incinerate us. However, all that appeared was a regular fire dragon with an appetite. (It looked a little overfed, to be honest). We defeated them both handily.

With Bahamut defeated, Ominas fell to his knees. Just then, Heinkel and Barras of the Sky Knights came to his aid. With their encouragement, Ominas returned to the fray, and we fought the three of them together. Protected by a wall of steel and muscle, the black mage was free to unleash his brutal magic, but we managed to best them. The trio made a brisk retreat.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating the Eternian Sky Knights at Lontano Villa

In the fifth world, the Sky Knights awaited us at Lontano Villa while preparing to fall back to the duchy. A four-on-four battle commenced. With a solid defense protecting him, Ominas's powerful black magic had us reeling. In the end, though, he was first to board the airship that came to evacuate them.

Added after defeating Ominas, Yulyana, Qada, and Mephilia at Eternian Central Command

The passage on the 49th floor of Central Command was guarded by a unit specializing in magic. This odd band, including Sage Yulyana, was led by none other than the black mage Ominas Crowe. Pestered by the summoner Mephilia, he showed little leadership, but in battle he more than held his ground with searing attacks aided by the salve-maker Qada and the others.

Heinkel the Knight[]

  • Likes: Chivalry, bravery, liquor
  • Dislikes: Etiquette, celery
Intro

We headed to the stronghold of the Eternian Sky Knights at Lontano Villa to rescue the kidnapped king. Heinkel had his underlings keep us busy while we retreated to his docked airship with the king. Why would one with the prowess to best Owen flee from a fight?

As soon as we boarded the airship, it took off. It seems Heinkel planned to lure us aboard and capture us before returning to the duchy. He chose this location thinking that even if we prevailed, the airship would crash and kill Agnès. After a tough fight, we emerged victorious. The king was safe, and the airship Eschalot was ours.

Chapter 4

Added after finding notes on the Recapture of Eternia in Everlast Tower

Records show that he commanded the unit that attacked the Orthodoxy's head temple when the templar rose up fifteen years ago.

Chapter 5

Added after defeating Heinkel in Lontano Villa

After entering the Holy Pillar and awakening in Caldisla, we journeyed to Lontano Villa. On its uppermost floor we encountered the knight Heinkel, who rebuked Edea for betraying the duchy despite being daughter to the grand marshal. He then attacked, saying she would have to learn the resolve of a knight the hard way. Though daunted, we won the battle, and set off again.

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Heinkel in Lontano Villa

In the third world, Heinkel read us orders from headquarters saying that the vestal should be found and kept safe. He claimed they meant her no harm, and merely sought to protect her from the Orthodoxy's corruption. He admonished Edea, who was at a loss for words. Though what he said made sense, we won the battle, and were left questioning our situation...

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Heinkel, Barras, and Ominas at the Ruins of Centro Keep

In the fourth world, the knight Heinkel and the monk Barras came to the aid of the black mage Ominas at the ruins of Centro Keep. We fought again, with Heinkel shielding Ominas so he could cast his powerful magic, while Barras pelted us with blows. This nasty combination made for a tough fight, but we prevailed, and Heinkel covered the others as they withdrew.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating the Eternian Sky Knights at Lontano Villa

In the fifth world, the Sky Knights were ordered to fall back and defend the duchy. We arrived as they were preparing to depart, and they set upon us with great fury. Heinkel seemed particularly eager for battle, putting his duties as captain aside and enjoying the skirmish as a simple warrior. Afterwards, he said he'd give us another working-over soon, then left.

Added after defeating Kamiizumi, Heinkel, Holly, and Kikyo at Eternian Central Command

The 48th floor of Central Command was guarded by a formidable defense under Swordmaster Kamiizumi. At first the mood was light, but in battle the dark sword flashed, wielded by the former commander of the duchy's elite guard... We emerged victorious, but that is one fight I don't want to repeat. (Agreed... —Edea)

Khamer VIII[]

Profile
King of Ancheim

Eloch Quentis Khamer VIII, king of Ancheim, the Land of Sand and Time. After the wind stopped blowing, he forced his people to turn the turbines by hand to secure the power to revive his nation's industrial sector.

He is obsessed with progress, and has little regard for the old ways. After inheriting the throne from the previous king, Silvaht Angdis Khamer VII, he invested so deeply in industrialization that his coffers were bled dry. He prides himself on his exactness, calling himself the "Timekeeper King," but is mocked for his timid nature.

Chapter 1

Annoyed that his people still follow Crystalism instead of joining the march of progress, he grew to hate the vestal, who enjoyed popular sentiment without having to earn it. After suggesting she investigate the chasm, he announced she had fled the kingdom. When she returned, he demanded she get the wind blowing again as soon as possible.

Added after returning to Ancheim from awakening the Wind Crystal

Seeing an ominous light at the temple where the vestal had headed, and noting the wind had not returned, the king of Ancheim saw his chance and gleefully addressed his people. However, Agnès appeared and held Tempest's Braid aloft, and before the crowd's eyes the wind began to blow again. Vexed and embarrassed, the king confined himself to his chambers.

Added after the events in the Great Mill Works

Prime Minister Harena announced that King Eloch Quentis Khamer VIII of Ancheim had died after a sudden bout of illness. It seems the prime minister will oversee the government for the time being. Unfortunately for the late king, Ancheim now seemed more peaceful than ever...

Sage Yulyana[]

Profile
The Old Tailor

A tailor living in Yulyana Woods who we asked to make the vestal garb we need to awaken the crystals. An easygoing, good-natured fellow.

Chapter 1

Added after delivering the rainbow thread to Sage Yulyana

It seems the vestal herself had to gather the rainbow thread for her vestal garb. Following the sage's instructions, we faced a number of challenges—even a dragon. After we retrieved the rainbow thread, the sage worked through the night to fashion it into the vestal garb. I heard the sage and Agnès spoke in hushed tones until dawn.

Chapter 2

Added after visiting Yulyana Woods Needleworks from Florem

Agnès decided to take part in the Sacred Flower Festival. While researching the best apparel to wear, we heard word of a perverted old merchant, which we soon realized referred to Sage Yulyana. The sage had a costume that would assure her victory, but Tiz poured cold water on the idea, much to the chagrin of the sage and me.

Chapter 4

Added after arriving at the door leading out of Eternian Central Command's Prison

Stuck behind bars at Eternian Central Command, and at our wit's end, we were paid a visit by the sage. He revealed he was a founder of the organization that preceded the duchy, making him our enemy. We were all shocked.

The sage told a wavering Agnès that her actions could bring misfortune to many, and asked us if we would still press on knowing this. We answered that we would. After contemplating this, the sage broke us out of the prison, then disappeared.

Added after finding notes on the Recapture of Eternia in Everlast Tower

In Everlast Tower, we found a passage that mentioned the sage amongst records discussing the templar's uprising fifteen years ago. It appears that before the uprising, the templar and the sage held a fierce debate over three days and nights.

Added after inspecting the portrait on the fifth floor of Vampire Castle

As we gazed upon a battlefield landscape on the fifth floor of Vampire Castle, Lord DeRosso shared a surprising secret regarding the sage. It seems the sage was the High Inquisitor of the Crystal Orthodoxy, born 1,900 years ago. He fought many battles against Lord DeRosso, who led the forces of darkness, and in the end achieved a triumphant victory.

Added after inspecting the portrait on the sixth floor of Vampire Castle

While viewing the portrait of the archbishop on the sixth floor of Vampire Castle, Lord DeRosso told us of the sage's actions when he was made archbishop. It seems he worked to diminish the power of the Orthodoxy, and shield the vestals and the faithful from its corruption.

Added after inspecting the portrait on the seventh floor of Vampire Castle

As we looked upon the asterisk painting on the top floor of Vampire Castle, Lord DeRosso told us how the sage deprived the Orthodoxy of the power to grant vocations, and sealed away a cache of weapons of forbidden power that the Orthodoxy had seized from around the world.

Added after inspecting the final painting after defeating Lord DeRosso in Vampire Castle

After defeating Lord DeRosso on the top floor of Vampire Castle, he showed us the angel painting. He spoke of the angel that descended upon his last battle with the sage at Norende, and how they both heard many terrible secrets regarding the crystals before the wounded angel relinquished life.

Added after leaving the area from defeating Lord DeRosso in Vampire Castle

Lord DeRosso told of why he and the sage forgave the templar for the uprising and helped his daughter. Before they could prepare for the Great Chasm, the Orthodoxy began planning the Grand Ritual, which would place enormous strain on the crystals. The templar proposed to protect the Earth Crystal, and the sage and DeRosso sanctioned his assault on the head temple.

Chapter 5

Added after visiting Yulyana Woods Needleworks after awakening two crystals

Agnès's vestal garb had become threadbare after awakening the second crystal in this world, so we visited the sage to ask him to repair it. He asked Agnès to choose the one she trusted most, and take them to the nearby cave. He then left her to make her decision.

Added after speaking with Sage Yulyana in the Vestment Cave

Agnès ultimately chose Tiz, and together they headed to the cave where the sage awaited them. There they were apparently told about the events that took place between the sage and Lord DeRosso 1,800 years earlier, and how an angel with a face just like Agnès's descended and shared prophecies with them.

Chapter 6

Added after speaking with Sage Yulyana in the Vestment Cave

Tiz visited the sage, entering the cave with Agnès alone so he could tell her what I had remembered without alerting Airy. The sage told them of the evil one the angel had spoken of, and shared the secret of Agnès's pendant.

Added after revisiting Yulyana Woods Needleworks after the events in the Vestment Cave

We found this note from the sage in the third world.

"I await you at the chamber of the Council of Six, in the land where all began." —Conjurer Yulyana

Added after defeating Yulyana at Yulyana Woods Needleworks

The sage showed the four of us other paths our lives could take. We considered his words, came to our conclusion, and visited him once more. The sage stood before us as the conjurer, intending to test our mettle. He was a formidable opponent, but we achieved victory in the end.

Added after defeating Yulyana, Mephilia, and Barbarossa at Yulyana Woods Needleworks

In the fourth world, we visited the sage and asked him to test our ability. Just then, his disciple the summoner Mephilia arrived with Barbarossa of the Black Blades to report she had mastered Susano-o. The sage was pleased to see her recovered, and asked them to join the battle. After the fight, the sage mused over the concerns that Mephilia spoke of.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating Lord DeRosso and Yulyana in Vampire Castle

In the fifth world, we were about to battle Lord DeRosso on the top floor of Vampire Castle, when Sage Yulyana showed up. He acted as cordially as ever, but we could not help trembling in fear. Lord DeRosso laughed, and asked him not to ruin his castle. I don't think he was joking. After giving us a taste of his god-like power, he grew bored and went home.

Added after defeating Ominas, Yulyana, Qada, and Mephilia at Eternian Central Command

Our way through the passage on the 49th floor of Central Command was blocked by a company of mages. We first thought them led by Sage Yulyana, but his hands were busy tormenting the summoner Mephilia. When the battle began, it was our turn to be tormented by his insanely powerful attacks...

Finale

Added after defeating Airy at the Altar of Darkness within the Dark Aurora

The sage praised us for defeating Airy at the Dark Aurora. With the demise of the evil one, the Great Chasm began to close. The sage and Lord DeRosso used their sorcerous skill to hold it open long enough for us to return to the worlds we had chosen. They watched as we headed off to live our lives.

The End

Added after visiting Yulyana Woods Needleworks

We defeated Airy after she revealed herself, and she retreated into the Dark Aurora. Not knowing what to do next, we went to seek the sage's advice. There we met Lord DeRosso, who let us hear the angel's voice. Our true enemy is Ouroboros, who Airy merely served! Lord DeRosso left to make preparations, and the sage removed the final seal upon the Kustra Archipelago.

Added after defeating Ouroboros in the Infernal Realm

The sage extolled our victory over Ouroboros. He also spoke of Lord DeRosso, with a hint of sorrow and envy in his voice. The Great Chasm began closing, but the sage used his powerful magic to keep it open long enough for us to return to the worlds we had chosen. He watched as we headed off to live our lives.

The water vestal Olivia was constantly on the run in Florem due to the suppression of Crystalism by the Bloodrose Legion. She had also recently learned that the fire vestal had perished. Just as Olivia and Agnès pledged to join forces to dispel the spreading evil, the arcanist Victoria unleashed an orb of darkness at them both.

Olivia took the full force of the attack, shielding Agnès. Victoria and Victor then battered us with their magic, and came close to defeating us, but they withdrew after Victoria suffered a seizure. Olivia was beyond saving, and with her dying breath she entreated Agnès to awaken the Water Crystal.

Chapter 5

Chapter 1

Added after Alternis Dim appears on the Eschalot

After sneaking on board the Eschalot, he knocked Tiz unconscious, and tried to take Agnès captive. Edea intervened just in time, and as he was unwilling to fight her, he withdrew. He smashed the skystone before he left, hoping to hinder the vestal. I am curious about his history with Edea.

Chapter 4

Added after defeating Alternis aboard Grandship

As Airy began to meditate at the Holy Pillar, an impact shook the deck. It seems the dark knight had been ordered by the templar to attack us, and was waiting for his chance. As he met his tragic end, the face of Alternis Dim was revealed, and it was like looking into a mirror. Then Grandship shook violently, and we were surrounded by light before we could talk.

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Alternis in Edea's room in Eternian Central Command

Sage Yulyana showed me an alternate fate. I could take the place of this world's Alternis, who mourned the loss of his beloved Edea. I learned he had been abandoned in the slums of Florem by his mother, and survived only by embracing darkness. Then he was saved by the templar's just blade.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Braev the Templar, Kamiizumi, and Alternis atop Eternian Central Command

In the fourth world, we faced the templar in the chambers of the Council of Six. He summoned Alternis to his side, scolding him for staying on despite his orders, and calling him son. In an attempt to sway Edea, he claimed his schemes were all sanctioned by the templar, but after defeating him we found notes in his writing that showed this was a complete fabrication.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating DeRosa, Profiteur, and Qada in Eternian Central Command Prison

In the fourth world, DeRosa, Profiteur, and Qada were hatching a plot in the dungeon beneath Central Command. DeRosa intended to overthrow the duchy through cunning use of a pathogen developed by Qada. We gave them a thrashing and locked them away, leaving the scoundrels' fate in the duchy's hands.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating the Bloodrose Legion in the Cellar Laboratory beneath Florem

In the fifth world, we found members of the Bloodrose Legion gathered at the secret lab in Florem. Their leader DeRosa was quarreling with the Venus sisters for some reason, but he turned their wrath upon us instead. They fled after the battle, and we were left nauseated by the acrid smell of perfume and liquor that permeated the air of the lab.

Added after defeating Victoria, Lord DeRosso, Khint, and DeRosa at Eternian Central Command

The way to the council chamber at Central Command was guarded by an ailment-focused force led by the arcanist Victoria. Compared to Lord DeRosso or the duchy's more powerful mages, the calculating red mage DeRosa who corrupted Florem from within seemed little more than a petty middle-aged crook. His vulgar laugh in the face of defeat only punctuated his villainous nature.

Chapter 3

Added after using the orichalcum to power Grandship

She was wholly unperturbed by the panic surrounding the sinking Grandship, and caused Datz much grief when she refused to evacuate. • Likes: Bitter tea, sweet bean soup
  • Dislikes: Cowardice, all forms of alcohol
Chapter 3

Added after encountering Kamiizumi en route to Eisen Bridge

We left the house by the sea, and Datz led us toward Eisen Bridge where the Shieldbearers have their headquarters. Then, the swordmaster attacked us out of nowhere. It appears we ran into his force by chance while they were on another mission. After exchanging a few words with Edea, he withdrew hastily to save the Swordbearer troops from being routed.

Added after obtaining the master sample from Grapp Keep

As we investigated Grapp Keep at the Shieldbearers' request, we overheard the swordmaster and Qada talking. We learned that the master sample was kept there, its use forbidden by the swordmaster. We also heard that Qada had used the toxin against the swordmaster's wishes, polluting the land for three years. We took the sample and headed back.

Added after defeating Kamiizumi in the Starkfort War Room

After awakening the Fire Crystal, we headed to the Swordbearers' lair at Starkfort, but their commander had already escaped by airship. The swordmaster told Edea his story in hushed tones. Unable to see eye to eye, a battle ensued. The swordmaster succumbed after a deadly struggle, but not before imploring Edea to speak to her father.

Chapter 5

Added after defeating Kamiizumi in the Starkfort War Room

We headed to the Swordbearers' lair at Starkfort, but their commander had already escaped by airship. The swordmaster spoke with Edea, but they could not see eye to eye, and they came to blows. We headed to the Swordbearers' lair at Starkfort, but their commander had already escaped by airship. The swordmaster spoke with Edea, but they could not see eye to eye, and they came to blows. After a harrowing battle, we defeated the swordmaster, who departed the mortal coil wheezing with rage.

Added after finding notes on the Recapture of Eternia in Everlast Tower

In Everlast Tower, we found documents showing that the swordmaster took part in the templar's uprising 15 years ago. He commanded the force that assaulted the Temple of Earth, showing how much faith the templar placed in him.

Added after speaking to the Gossipmonger in Eternia

In Eternia we met a man who spoke of the templar and swordmaster in their younger days. He said they were close friends who both aimed to master the way of the sword. However, they had a falling out one day, leading to a duel that lasted three days and three nights. In the end, it took twenty Orthodoxy guards to restrain them.

Their duel was over a girl called Mahzer, Edea's mother. The swordmaster won, and went to her village to confess his love. He was spurned, and Mahzer was betrothed to the templar. The swordmaster set off on a journey, and the Great Plague hit the next year. Fighting to aid the people, the templar left the Orthodoxy, and later started the uprising with the swordmaster.

Added after speaking with Edea's mother regarding the Gossipmonger's rumors

Edea's mother told us the true story of the templar and swordmaster. After winning the duel, the swordmaster told her she should marry the templar, and left on his journey of training. She told Edea she should be thankful for the friendship the swordmaster had shown her father, and for him teaching her the ways of the sword.

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Kamiizumi in the Starkfort War Room

We confronted Swordmaster Kamiizumi on the top floor of the Swordbearers' lair, Starkfort. He seemed sorrowful rather than angry that Edea did not try to understand the decisions he had made, or the ideals of her father the templar. He was slain in the battle that followed.

Added after defeating Kamiizumi in the Starkfort War Room, and talking to Edea's mother and the Gossipmonger in Eternia prior

After hearing the full story of the swordmaster and templar from her mother, Edea apologized to the swordmaster for not recognizing the debt her parents owed him, or the kindness he had shown her. The swordmaster was pleased to see how his disciple had matured, and offered her a bout of training. Once the battle was over, he headed off on another journey.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Braev the Templar, Kamiizumi, and Alternis atop Eternian Central Command

In the fourth world, as we battled Braev the Templar and the dark knight Alternis in the chambers of the Council of Six, Swordmaster Kamiizumi joined the fray. The moment he drew his blade, the menace in the room increased tenfold. His swordplay kept us on the back foot, but after a desperate struggle, we prevailed. Before we knew it, the swordmaster had disappeared.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating the Black Blades in the Starkfort War Room

In the fifth world, as Starkfort prepared to evacuate after hearing of the duchy's orders, it was attacked by a host of 50,000 Shieldbearers. Swordmaster Kamiizumi held them off with a force of just 100 soldiers, and intercepted us as we launched a raid of the Swordbearer headquarters. After a ferocious battle, he calmly set off for his home soil, leaving us amazed.

Added after defeating Kamiizumi, Heinkel, Holly, and Kikyo at Eternian Central Command

The 48th floor of Central Command was guarded by a formidable defense under Swordmaster Kamiizumi. He had the complete trust of Braev the Templar, and assembled a stalwart team who he could rely on to carry out his orders perfectly. All those there fought without a care for who won or lost, desiring only to battle on.

  • Likes: Axes, rum, barrels of apples
  • Dislikes: Poor weather, lulls in the wind, choppy seas
Chapter 3

Added after defeating Barbarossa aboard the SS Funky Francisca

While sailing the Sea of Corsairs, we spotted a suspicious-looking ship surrounded by ominous fog. After boarding it, we found it to be the ghost ship of Captain Barbarossa and his spirit crew, prowling the open seas. Though he is our foe, his hearty laugh and the tale of his quest for adventure made me root for him a little.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Yulyana, Mephilia, and Barbarossa at Yulyana Woods Needleworks

As we asked the sage to test our ability in the fourth world, the sage's disciple Mephilia and Captain Barbarossa came by. It seems the captain had learned the whereabouts of the Susano-o that his late friend had sought, and knowing his friend's loved one sought it, he offered to lend her a hand. The sage was delighted, and asked them join the fray to up the challenge.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating the Black Blades in the Starkfort War Room

In the fifth world, we used a great host of Shieldbearers as a distraction to raid the Swordbearers' headquarters. Inside, we clashed with Captain Barbarossa and other Black Blades, who seemed to have been waiting for us. Barbarossa led a coordinated effort that left us exhausted. When Swordmaster Kamiizumi arrived, the battle intensified further.

Added after defeating Alternis, Barbarossa, Barras, and Praline at Eternian Central Command

The 49th floor of Central Command was guarded by an elite melee force led by the dark knight Alternis Dim. Barbarossa and the other melee specialists were powerful enough on their own, but they came at us with their abilities enhanced by the songs of Praline, Diva of the Battlefield. We prevailed after an intense struggle, and our spirited opponents let us pass.

Qada the Salve-Maker[]

  • Likes: Experiments, research, praise
  • Dislikes: Patience, strict superiors
Chapter 3

Added after overhearing Kamiizumi and Qada's conversation in Grapp Keep

Qada is responsible for the civil war in Eisenberg dragging on so long. He used a forbidden toxic weapon out for cowardice, slaughtering 100,000 Shieldbearer and Swordbearer soldiers. The area became an uninhabitable wasteland for over three years. Much to chagrin, he was ordered to clean up the mess and treat the wounded soldiers.

Added after defeating Qada in Starkfort

In a room in the Swordbearers' lair of Starkfort, we found Qada cursing his fate. He still held dark ambitions to develop new toxins and use them as weapons. We charged in and defeated him.

Chapter 4

Added after finding notes on the Recapture of Eternia in Everlast Tower

According to documents we found in Everlast Tower, Qada joined the templar's uprising fifteen years ago. It seems he was charged with auditing the Orthodoxy's forbidden tomes and secret tonics after the assault on their head temple. The documents suggest there were some unsavory rumors regarding his work.

Chapter 5

Added after defeating Qada in Starkfort

In the world beyond the Holy Pillar, we found the salve-maker Qada and a subordinate speaking in the Swordbearers' lair of Starkfort. In this world, Qada seems to be treating wounded Shieldbearer soldiers as well as his Swordbearer allies. We thought he may have turned over a new leaf, but he only wanted to use them in his experiments. We took him on, an defeated him.

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Qada in Starkfort

Coming across Qada at Starkfort in the third world, he seemed to spend his days complaining to subordinates about how he was removed from the front lines. Boasting of his achievements to his silent underlings, it was clear just how insignificant he really was. As before, he was using captured soldiers in tests to create heinous weapons, so we gave him his just deserts.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating DeRosa, Profiteur, and Qada in Eternian Central Command Prison

In the fourth world, we found Qada plotting to overthrow the duchy with DeRosa and Profiteur in the dungeon beneath Central Command. While he mulled over whether to go down in history as a villain who created the pathogen that threw the duchy into chaos, or a hero that developed the miracle cure, we crushed their evil aspirations and locked them away.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating the Black Blades in the Starkfort War Room

In the fifth world, the Black Blades had been ordered back to their home country. With the Shieldbearers mounting a large counteroffensive, we launched an assault on Starkfort. Qada appeared to be rushed off his feet making room for returning soldiers and the wounded. He supported Barbarossa until the swordmaster's arrival, then they set off back to the duchy.

Added after defeating Ominas, Yulyana, Qada, and Mephilia at Eternian Central Command

Our way through the passage on the 49th floor of Central Command was blocked by some of the duchy's most skilled casters. Qada played a support role, supplying raw magical power and healing to the other three, while targeting us with debilitating spells. Staring into the conflagration he had caused, Qada wore a grin much like that of the pyromaniac Ominas.

Chapter 3

Added after defeating Praline at Eisen Bridge

On the trail of a legendary bard, we visited the pupils he had taught, who were scattered around the world. The Shieldbearer soldiers remembered the secrets to singing that Arca Pellar had left behind. They drowned out Praline's song with their chorus, defeating her. She discarded her microphone, saying she would return to being a normal girl.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Khamer, the Jackal, and Praline at Ancheim Palace

In the fourth world, Praline went missing from Eisen Bridge. Despite confusion between the Jackal and Praline, mixing up the swordmaster and Ciggma Khint—both expert swordsmen, tall and clad in green—they somehow arrived in Ancheim to fulfill Khamer's request to ease the people's suffering. The Jackal and Praline's performance left the king in tears...

Chapter 8

Added after defeating the Black Blades in the Starkfort War Room

In the fifth world, the duchy issued orders to fall back, and the Shieldbearers gave chase. The Black Blades and the Swordbearers were cornered. We raided Starkfort, and were met by Praline and other Black Blades. The voice that had held Eisen Bridge alone echoed out, and all of a sudden her companions were filled with vigor. Praline sang on, until we finally defeated them.

Added after defeating Alternis, Barbarossa, Barras, and Praline at Eternian Central Command

On the 49th floor of Central Command, we faced off against an elite melee force. Alternis, Barras, and Barbarossa, stalwart members of the duchy's forces, were filled with power by the songs of Praline, Diva of the Battlefield. Praline shone in the spotlight, doing her part for the defense of her homeland.

Konoe the Ninja[]

  • Likes: Make-up, collecting materials for her disguises
  • Dislikes: The fat feeb (Qada)
Chapter 3

Added after defeating Kikyo at the Goodman residence in Hartschild

At a Shieldbearer banquet, Kikyo dressed herself up as the corpse of a dead servant, intending to murder the key Shieldbearers present. We happened to be there, and used our powers of deduction to uncover her plot. She attacked, and we were forced to defeat her. She was the one who rebuffed me before, so she must have been planning this for quite some time.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Victoria, Kikyo, and Artemia in the Florie Dwelling beyond Florem Gardens

In the fourth world, we saw the ninja Kikyo at Florem Gardens. She had been invited by Victoria, and Artemia was there, too. None of them excelled at communication, but when we encountered them they performed with admirable unity. A banner left behind after they withdrew had "girl power" scrawled on it in faint writing.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating Kikyo, Qada, Kamiizumi, Praline, and Barbarossa in the Starkfort War Room

In the fifth world, the Black Blades were ordered to withdraw. Word got out, and a host of 50,000 Shieldbearers marched on Starkfort. The Black Blades got away, but I later heard the intelligence and counterintelligence efforts were led by Konoe Kikyo on the Swordbearer side, while Officer Neuer led her Shieldbearer counterparts.

Added after defeating Kamiizumi, Heinkel, Holly, and Kikyo at Eternian Central Command

The 48th floor of Central Command was guarded by a formidable defense led by Swordmaster Kamiizumi. When we arrived, a calm atmosphere seemed to surround the ninja Kikyo...but I was too quick to judge. She unleashed fierce attacks in the battle that followed, holding nothing back. It seemed as if she was fighting with newfound vigor.

Chapter 3

Added after visiting Eisen Bridge for the first time

Datz took us to the Shieldbearer command post at Eisen Bridge, where we met Commander Daniel Goodman. Sworn to protect the Orthodoxy, he treated the Wind Vestal Agnès with utmost respect. Despite his rank he spoke with humility, and seemed to have a good-natured demeanor. He gave us permission to sojourn in Hartschild, stronghold of the Shieldbearers.

Added after obtaining the master sample from Grapp Keep

We headed to the Shieldbearers' command post to report on the toxic mist we had had been asked to investigate. We gave the commander the toxic sample the Swordbearers had in storage, and he asked his medical team to use it to create a neutralizing agent. However, Agnès wanted it destroyed, and he complied with her wishes—perhaps a surprising choice for a military man.

Added after awakening the Fire Crystal

We told Goodman how we had reached the Temple of Fire through the mythril mine and awakened the Fire Crystal, and that all the mythril was gone as a result. He was not concerned, as this would now hinder the weapon-making of his enemy. He promised to rebuild the temple once the eruptions died down and take in Egil and the boys. His benevolence knows no end.

Added after defeating Praline at Eisen Bridge

A chorus of Shieldbearer singers helped us repel battlefield diva Praline, who was causing chaos at the Eisen Bridge front line through her disruptive songs. Commander Goodman was elated at the news. Apparently they later had problems with soldiers who remained charmed, and others that broke into dance, cheered, or started moving in sync with enemy soldiers.

Added after visiting the Goodman residence after bringing Egil to Caldisla

When visiting Commander Goodman's residence in Hartschild one day, we found the commander at home for once. Apparently he had received an invitation to a banquet from the wind vestal, and had brought two of his officers with him. However, Agnès had sent no such invitation... Before we could act, a servant was murdered, and the front entrance blocked off!

Added after questioning everyone about the murder mystery

We questioned everyone who remained in the commander's residence. Nobody was free from suspicion, so the commander calmly suggested we stay together until help arrived. Just then, the Shieldbearer officer Saranish Steiner died... It seemed he had been poisoned by the tea the commander's wife had just poured for him.

Added after going near the front door of the Goodman residence when Steiner is murdered

When Officer Steiner was poisoned it placed suspicion firmly on the commander's wife, and she was confined to the dungeon below. Then, all of a sudden, the lights in the residence went out, and a scream was heard! Someone had murdered the Shieldbearer Officer Savish Neuer.

Added after defeating Kikyo at the Goodman residence in Hartschild

The culprit was the Black Blades' ninja Konoe Kikyo, who had disguised herself as the slain servant! She attempted to take the commander's life, but we were able to stop her in time. Looking more closely, I realized she was the one who had given me a whack and run away earlier. We prevailed after a frenzied battle.

Chapter 5

Added after visiting Eisen Bridge for the first time

Commander Goodman graciously granted us an audience with him. In every world, he seemed the epitome of humbleness and good manners, nothing like a typical military commander. He was happy to let us stay in Hartschild.

  • Likes: Potato gratin (her husband's favorite)
  • Dislikes: An empty home
Chapter 3

Added after resting at the Goodman residence in Hartschild

At the Shieldbearers' command post, Commander Goodman gave us permission to stay in Hartschild. Led by Datz, we were greeted by Goodman's lovely wife. She said as companions of the wind vestal we would be guests of state. Apparently she made an excellent home-cooked meal, despite the wartime rationing. For personal reasons, I was not able to try it...

Added after leaving Egil at the Goodman residence in Hartschild

Eleanor took in Egil, who had nowhere else to go. She was adamant that he should not end up in the military, but worried whether he would listen, given that both his late parents served as guards. We could not afford to risk taking a child with us on our journey to awaken the crystals...

Added after offering to bring Egil to Caldisla

Egil had apparently been looking forward to our arrival since the morning. This may have foreshadowed the fact that Eleanor would soon be left alone once again. She bid farewell to Egil, accepting that leaving was his decision to make. I admired her for having his best interests at heart.

Added after visiting the Goodman residence after bringing Egil to Caldisla

One day we found Commander Goodman in his residence for a change. He said the wind vestal had invited him to a banquet, and he had brought two of his officers with him. Eleanor was elated to have him home. However, Agnès had sent no such invitation. Their servant was murdered, and then the front door was sealed shut! Very mysterious...

Added after questioning everyone about the murder mystery

We questioned everyone who remained in the commander's residence. Nobody was free from suspicion. Eleanor decided to pour everyone tea, but soon after, the Shieldbearers' Officer Saranish Steiner dropped dead from poison. Eleanor could not escape falling under suspicion, and she was locked up in the dungeon below.

Added after defeating Kikyo at the Goodman residence in Hartschild

The culprit was the Black Blades' ninja Konoe Kikyo, who had disguised herself as the slain servant! She tried to take the commander's life, but we stopped her in time. Unfortunately, others had already fallen victim to her plot.

Chapter 5

Added after visiting the Goodman residence in Hartschild for the first time

After receiving permission from Commander Goodman to stay in Hartschild, we went to meet Eleanor, who was holding down the fort at her residence. Her smile was as lovely as ever, and I couldn't help but take comfort at the sight of her kindly face.

  • Likes: The fire vestal, fried eggs
  • Dislikes: Studying
Chapter 3

Added after encountering Egil at the entrance to the Mythril Mines

After Egil told us he received a message from the fire vestal in his dreams, Agnès wanted to take him with us, but Tiz objected strongly. Egil reminds him of his brother, who perished when the Great Chasm appeared, and he does not want to put him in danger. After promising we'd all protect Egil, we headed into the mythril mines.

Added after rescuing Egil in the Underflow

In the mythril mines, Egil fell after the ground gave way beneath his feet, and Tiz dove forward to grab him. They were both about to fall into the lava until Agnès's quick action saved them. The tension we had felt since Florem melted away, and we shared a tender moment.

Added after bringing Egil to Caldisla

The owner of the inn at Caldisla was in low spirits after the death of his son Owen. We decided to bring Egil there to cheer him up.

The king of Caldisla gave Egil permission to use the castle's training hall, and bestowed upon him the young soldier's badge that Owen once held. He also put him in charge of the reconstruction of Norende Village. In this he hoped to make Egil a capable warrior, and aid both Tiz and the innkeep at the same time.

Added after receiving the orichalcum from Egil

After Egil came to live with him, the innkeep was soon back to his old self. Egil also enjoyed his new life, helping the innkeep, going to school, and visiting the castle's training hall every day.

Chapter 4

Added after defeating Braev the Templar atop Eternian Central Command

After several confrontations between Edea and her father, we fought him head on. When the templar slumped to his knees, it was Lord DeRosso who came to his aid. Edea agonized over whether to awaken the Earth Crystal and put her mother's life at risk as well. Lord DeRosso said she underestimated her father's accomplishments, and her mother would not perish.

Added after visiting Gravemark Village

Near the eastern passage, we found a village littered with gravestones. We spoke to an old man who tends the graves, who said this was the village where the templar and his wife were born. The Great Plague struck soon after they left, and they apparently deeply regretted being unable to do anything to save their hometown.

The stories of the old man of Gravemark Village near the eastern passage gave clues to the templar's character. He revitalized the duchy after turning on the Orthodoxy fifteen years ago. He rose up after seeing the Orthodoxy ignore the needs of the people to protect their head temple and the Temple of Earth in the Great Plague. The people saw him as a hero.

Added after finding an Adherent's Chronicle in Everlast Tower

In Everlast Tower, we found documents relating to the Orthodoxy. A young cleric had proposed a way to save the people from the Great Plague, but left the Orthodoxy after he was ignored. Several years later, the same cleric attacked the head temple of the Orthodoxy. The earth vestal was dragged out and slain by his guards... This young cleric was probably Braev Lee.

Added after finding notes on the Recapture of Eternia in Everlast Tower

In Everlast Tower, we found documents listing the forces that joined the uprising fifteen years ago. They detailed some of the events of that time, indicating that the templar and Sage Yulyana argued right up to the uprising, and noting that rebel forces marched on Eternia via Ancheim and Eisenberg. They also showed that the templar wanted himself to be a usurper.

Added after leaving the area from defeating Lord DeRosso in Vampire Castle

Following an intense battle with Lord DeRosso, Edea asked why he and the sage would help the templar after his revolt. It seems that as the angel's omens came to be, the Orthodoxy held a Grand Ritual that placed great strain on the crystals. With DeRosso and the sage busy preparing for the coming Great Chasm, the templar rose up alone to defend the crystals.

Chapter 5

Added after defeating Braev the Templar atop Eternian Central Command

In the second world, the templar told us the truth behind the attack on the Orthodoxy fifteen years earlier. The Orthodoxy's Grand Ritual destabilized the Earth Crystal, and the energy gushing forth was drawn out via white magic cables and converted into healing waves to treat the sick. The templar had taken the crystal to protect it, and not to exploit its power.

Added after speaking to the Gossipmonger in Eternia

In Eternia, we heard rumors about the one true love of the templar and swordmaster. It seems in their youth they were close friends studying the way of the sword, but they had a falling out. The templar became a cleric of the Orthodoxy, while the swordmaster instructed at the training hall. Then, the year before the Great Plague, they suddenly met to engage in a duel!

Their duel apparently lasted three days and nights. The swordmaster won, and likely visited Edea's mother's village to confess his love, but was spurned. Upon returning, he set off on a journey. The templar went on to marry Edea's mother in the year before the Great Plague hit. It seems the swordmaster also took part in the templar's uprising...

Added after speaking with Edea's mother regarding the Gossipmonger's rumors

Edea's mother told her what had happened between the swordmaster and her father. It was not the typical tale of romance she had expected, but a story of friendship and mutual respect. The swordmaster stood by the templar and led Edea on the right path, showing great affection for the daughter of the woman he loved and his closest friend.

In the third world, Sage Yulyana showed Edea an alternate fate. She could choose to live a life of peace here with the templar and his wife, who mourned the loss of their daughter. The templar praised Edea after the battle, showing that her father was secretly proud of her progress. This surprising fact made Edea agonize over her decision.

Chapter 7

Added after defeating Braev the Templar, Kamiizumi, and Alternis atop Eternian Central Command

In the fourth world, we faced off with the templar in the chambers of the Council of Six. He called Alternis his son, and they set upon us together. Their sacred sword and blade of darkness were joined by yet another great blade, and the sound of steel on steel rang out, reverberating echoes of the past and future. After the battle, the templar gave us a warm sending off.

Chapter 8

Added after defeating Braev the Templar, Victor, Khamer, and Artemia atop Eternian Central Command

We once again found Braev the Templar's forces in the chambers of the Council of Six at Eternian Central Command. Each blow felt both harsh and purposeful. The stalwart band before us was here to push us to our limits, so we would be ready to defeat our ultimate foe. After the battle, the templar told us we could return any time we wished.

Added after completing a rematch against all the asterisk keepers atop Eternian Central Command

We still held doubts about whether we were ready to take on the enemy. Braev the Templar saw our fear and hesitation, and allowed us to train against the full might of the Eternian forces. By the time the fight was over, after dodging our way through the onslaught of twenty-three formidable opponents, there was no doubt left in our mind.

Chapter 4

Added after speaking with Edea's mother in Eternia's Central Healing Tower

Soon after arriving in Eternia, we learned from an old friend of Edea that her mother was ill, and receiving treatment. We rushed to her side, and were greeted as friends of her daughter, despite her recognizing the vestal. Edea shared the details of our journey with her mother, who told us not to worry about her before leaving.

The templar fell to his knees, and Edea's mother ran to his side after being brought in by Lord DeRosso. Edea despaired at the thought of putting her mother's life at risk. However, Lord DeRosso said that the templar had advanced science and medicine in Eternia by a hundred years, and her mother would not die even if the Earth Crystal were awakened.

Added after finding notes on the Recapture of Eternia in Everlast Tower

In Everlast Tower, we found records regarding the templar's family. In the few months between the templar's uprising and his return after establishing the duchy, Edea and her mother apparently lived in the sage's needleworks. Were the sigils on the bunk bed there etched by the templar to protect his daughter, or carved by Mahzer to pray for her husband's return?

Chapter 5

Added after speaking to the Gossipmonger in Eternia

In the city of Eternia, we heard rumors about the history between the swordmaster and the templar. It seems they were close friends, dedicated to the way of the sword. However, a wedge was driven between them when the swordmaster set eyes upon the templar's childhood friend Mahzer at the village where they grew up. This led to them dueling the year before the Great Plague.

After battling for three days and nights, the swordmaster won the duel by a narrow margin. He went to the village to confess his love, but was spurned. He set off on a journey after his return, and it was the templar who married Mahzer. The rumors of this love triangle made it sound like a bad romance story, but Edea looked like it had given her a lot to think about.

Added after speaking with Edea's mother regarding the Gossipmonger's rumors

Edea's mother told her the true story of the swordmaster and her father. Far from the frivolous tale of rumor, it conveyed the swordmaster's devotion to his friend, and unwavering support for the husband of the woman he loved. He strived to lead Edea down the right path as her master, and he stayed true to her family to the end.

Though Archduke of Eternia, he prefers the title Lord DeRosso. He is a man of mystery, with haunted, weary eyes.

Chapter 4

Added after defeating Braev the Templar atop Eternian Central Command

Lord DeRosso's swift treatment of the templar saved his life. He allayed Edea's concerns about now putting her mother's life at risk as she prepared to awaken the Earth Crystal, saying the templar's work had advanced medicine in Eternia by 100 years, so awakening the crystal would not endanger her mother. He also hinted at a secret surrounding the crystals.

We heard a surprising tale while viewing a family portrait at Lord DeRosso's castle. Lord DeRosso says he was born 2,400 years ago. He was the eldest son of the Ducal House DeRosso, a noble family of the Kingdom of Eternia that collapsed after the birth of Crystal Orthodoxy.

Added after inspecting the portrait on the second floor of Vampire Castle

A reformation took place after calls to reclaim the crystals from those in power and administer them under a unified religion. The royal house of Eternia passed the Earth Crystal on to the Orthodoxy, and the young cleric DeRosso was made a cardinal. However, he was forced out after refusing to help rig the election of the Grand Patriarch.

Added after inspecting the portrait on the third floor of Vampire Castle

On the orders of the fraudulently elected Grand Patriarch, the Kingdom of Eternia was invaded by forces from various lands. DeRosso's father was put to death, and the castle of House DeRosso besieged. Its well was poisoned, and his mother slain when she was sent out as a condition of surrender. The castle fell, enveloped in flames.

As the fire raged, Lord DeRosso heard a voice. "Accept me and I shall grant life everlasting. Though it shall be filled with grief, thou shalt have all eternity to wreak vengeance upon thine enemies." His body was never found, and he became immortal. In the 500 years that followed, he slew many key figures in the Orthodoxy, including the Grand Patriarch.

Over the ages, the Orthodoxy began to falter. To regain the power they once had, they turned to the tactic of fear-mongering. With the young warrior Yulyana as their High Inquisitor, they eliminated their enemies one by one. The battle between the shadowy Lord DeRosso and the High Inquisitor is said to have continued until Yulyana was 100 years old.

Added after inspecting the portrait on the seventh floor of Vampire Castle

1,800 years ago, the conflict between Lord DeRosso and High Inquisitor Yulyana came to an end. Yulyana struck DeRosso down, and in recognition of this, he became the first commoner to be made archbishop. He set about purging evil and corruption from the Orthodoxy, supported by Lord DeRosso from the shadows.

Added after defeating Victoria, Lord DeRosso, Khint, and DeRosa at Eternian Central Command

The way to the council chamber at Central Command was guarded by an ailment-inflicting force led by the arcanist Victoria. Lord DeRosso was aghast at the twisted minds gathered there. He believed the assignment to be reprisal from the templar, who he so often ignored. His annoyance only fed his will to win, and he pounced on us with a steely look in his eyes.

Betrayed by Airy after her transformation, we went to seek the advice of Lord DeRosso. He told us that the sage took a cache of powerful weapons from the Orthodoxy while he was archbishop, and hid them in a safe place. The cache is apparently stashed somewhere in Kustra Archipelago, an arc-like chain of islands north of Florem.

Added after defeating Airy at the Altar of Darkness within the Dark Aurora

After defeating Airy at the Altar of Darkness, the Dark Aurora collapsed and the Great Chasm began to contract. Lord DeRosso and Sage Yulyana told us to return to the worlds of our choosing. They used their great power to hold the chasm open long enough for us to slip through aboard Grandship, and we headed off on our chosen paths...

Lord DeRosso came to neutralize the core that would revive the Bringer of Ruin Ouroboros over and over for all eternity. He would sacrifice his immortal soul to contain it. Researcher?

As one who joined the templar's uprising fifteen years ago, he proposed the construction of white magic cables to the city of Eternia. It is thought he was some kind of researcher. His age and birthplace are not known.

Chapter 4

Added after finding the Research Notes in Everlast Tower

Vincent's name appeared as the author of a report of alchemical life that we discovered in Everlast Tower. He found a tome entitled "Alchemical Life" among the forbidden volumes seized from the Orthodoxy, and verified that it was not a book of occult theory or miracles. However, he later advised his superiors to shut down the research, as it had led to unstable results.

Added after finding notes on the Recapture of Eternia in Everlast Tower

Among documents we found in Everlast Tower, Vincent's name was mentioned in relation to the templar's uprising of 15 years earlier. It seems he was the one that proposed the construction of white magic cables in Eternia. His son's name was Victor. It seems he was the father of Victor S. Court...

Chapter 5

Added after defeating Victoria and Victor at Eternian Central Command

In the second world, Victor mentioned Vincent while treating the arcanist Victoria after she had a seizure in the middle of battle. He was Victor's father, who conducted research into enhancing the effects of white magic. He apparently played a part in the treatment of Victoria, who suffered from an incurable illness from a young age.

Chapter 6

Added after defeating Victoria and Victor at Eternian Central Command

His views on the best way to treat Victoria differed from his son's, who was in charge of research into white magic. Overriding the objections of those around him, he used alchemical genesis on Victoria. As a result, she began suffering from debilitating fits, and the growth of her body was stunted. Vincent was later slain by Victoria.
