Dispel in Bravely Default
Dispel (ディスペル, Disuperu?, lit. Dispel) is a level 4 White Magic spell in Bravely Default. It cancels the support effects regen, stop, reflect, reraise, as well those that nullify status ailments, raise/lower stats, abate/nullify elements or make targets weaker to them, absorb damage, or are imparted by Sword Magic on one target. It costs 8 MP to use. It can be bought in Hartschild for 1600 pg.

Etymology[]
To dispel something means to make something disappear, which this spell does to various positive and negative effects.
The spell Dispel originates from the Final Fantasy series, originally introduced as the high-level White Magic spell DeSpell in the original Final Fantasy, whose function was to cancel all elemental resistances. Dispel first had the function of canceling statuses and barriers like Reflect in Final Fantasy IV, with that function being the one the spell possesses in Bravely Default.
