Etymology[]
Haste is a spell orientating from the Final Fantasy series. It first appeared as a Black Magic spell in the original Final Fantasy, though its function in that game was to both raise a character's speed and their hit count, with the latter now being the function of the spell Quick. It first raised speed alone in Final Fantasy IV by making the new ATB gauge fill faster, and it fulfilled that same role in Final Fantasy V, where it was part of the new Time Mage job, just as it is in most installments of the Bravely series.
