Elvis using Healaga in Bravely Default II.
Healaga (ラヒーラ, Rahīra?, lit. Raheara) is a Red Magic spell in Bravely Default II. It is the third level of the Heal line of spells, being a fixed-healing restorative spell that serves as an alternative to the Cure spell line. It is learned at job level 9 for the Red Mage and restores 3000 HP to a single target. Healaga can be used in or outside of battle. It costs 49 MP to use. With the White Mage specialty Holistic Medicine, it can be cast on the whole party with no loss in potency.
Roddy uses this spell when fought in the Halls of Tribulation, healing himself or an ally for 6000 HP due to the Chainspell specialty.
Etymology[]
The Heal series of spells originate from the Final Fantasy series of games. The spells were first introduced in the original Final Fantasy as White Magic spells usable only by the White Mage and White Wizard jobs. Unlike the single-targeted Cure spells, the Heal spells specialized in healing multiple party members at the same time, which is the opposite of the difference between the two in Bravely Default II, where Cure spells can be group-cast while Heal spells can only be targeted on a single character.
The Japanese version of the spell, Raheara, uses the unique naming scheme for White Magic in the original Final Fantasy, where most final versions of spells placed the "a", "ra", and "ga" suffixes before the name of the first or second tier of the spell. This naming format was not used in the English localizations of the game, instead having the spell use the traditional "ga" suffix for the final tier of the spell.
