Meteor (メテオ, Meteo?, lit. Meteor) is a recurring offensive spell in the Bravely series. It is often one of the strongest spells obtained in the game, unleashing a barrage of meteorites to inflict multiple non-elemental magic attacks on the enemies. In most titles, Meteor is the Time Magic counterpart to spells such as Dark and Holy, serving as the magic school's strongest spell.
Unlike its predecessor, the Comet spell, Meteor will consistently perform four hits rather than doing a random amount up to four, though which enemies do get hit if there are multiple of them is random instead.

Etymology[]
A meteor or "shooting star" is the visible streak of light from a meteoroid or micrometeoroid, heated and glowing from entering the Earth's atmosphere, as it sheds glowing material in its wake. Meteors rarely explode in the Earth's atmosphere. The term has become associated with quickness with the adjective "meteoric". In the context of myth and superstition, meteors and comets sighted in Ancient and Medieval Europe were once held as ill omen, said to be the message of the heavens' displeasure of man's affairs to herald grave catastrophes.
Pieces that withstand atmospheric ablation are known as meteorites, but the name of the spell in the series refers to the overall phenomenon.
Meteor is a recurring spell in the Final Fantasy series, introduced in Final Fantasy III, where it was an extremely high-level Black Magic spell. It has consistently been a non-elemental spell, though it originally hit all enemies at once. Later entries such as Final Fantasy V have included the spell as part of the Time Magic skillset and gave it the function of dealing multiple non-elemental magic attacks to random enemies.
Most installments of the Bravely series reference its role as Time Magic from Final Fantasy V, with the spell functioning similarly to its appearance in the title. However, Bravely Default II references its origin as Black Magic by placing it with the Arcanist job, which is named after the Magus job from Final Fantasy III in Japanese.
