Minus Strike (サガク剣, Sagaku Ken?, lit. Balance Sword) is a recurring ability in the Bravely series. It is often a Dark Knight ability that deals non-elemental physical damage to enemies that is based on the difference in the user's Max HP and current HP.

Bravely Default[]
Minus Strike is a level 6 ability of the Dark Knight. It damages one target by an amount equal to the number of HP lost. It costs 16 MP to use.
Bravely Second: End Layer[]
Minus Strike is the level 5 command ability for Dark Knight. It allows the user to damage one target by an amount equal to the number of HP lost. Damage is capped at 9,999 when not using Bravely Second. It costs 16 MP to use.
Bravely Default II[]
Minus Strike is a Diabolism ability for the Hellblade job. The ability is learned at job level 5. When used, it allows the user to inflict damage on a single target that is equal to the user’s maximum HP minus their current HP. The ability costs 1 BP to use.
Adam Holograd is able to perform the ability when fought as a boss. His version can be especially dangerous when performed on the party, being able to deal damage that easily breaks the base damage cap due to his immense HP pool.
Bravely Default: Praying Brage[]
Minus Strike was the level 3 command ability for the Dark Knight job. It could be learned once the player accumulated 6 AP. When used, the user would deal physical damage based on the amount of HP the user has lost. It cost 45 MP to use.
The ability's damage calculations were as follows:
- Damage = Lost HP20% + 1% damage up
Minus Strike's damage could also be increased if the user had damage increasing buffs when performing the ability.

Etymology[]
Minus Strike originates from the Final Fantasy series of games, often being an ability associated with the Knight job. Like its Bravely series counterpart, the ability deals damage to enemies based on the difference in the user's Max HP and current HP. Its Dark Knight-oriented appearance in the Bravely' series originates from the ability's appearance in Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, where it appeared as a Dark Fencer ability, albeit under the localized name of Eye for an Eye.
