D's Journal job description.
Pirate job icon.

The Pirate is a job in Bravely Default. It is obtained by defeating Hayreddin Barbarossa aboard the SS Funky Francisca.

The Pirate specializes in attacks that hit with regular damage but simultaneously cripple a specific enemy stat and carry skills that center around enhancing straightforward combat. The nature of the job's abilities stresses its flexibility in a team while being less than stellar when on its own. They are popularly used in conjunction with the Swordmaster as its Free Lunch skill helps offset the price of the Pirate's Amped Strike.

The job makes no use of magic, leaving little by way of MP and other magic related stats. However, note that Amped Strike requires half of the user's maximum MP for usage. To further cement the usage of this job in physical combat, strength is its highest stat seemingly at the cost of everything else being somewhat average. In terms of weaponry, the Pirate has a maximum aptitude for Axes but can also use swords and shields.

Appearance[]

Pirates don stereotypical outfits befitting of the job, reminiscent of outfits worn by Britain's Royal Navy in the 18th century. Tiz wears an open, sleeveless navy-blue coat with a red interior and three gold buttons, as well as a matching navy-blue tricorne. He also wears dark brown pants with a blue sash and gold hems, white tights with brown low-cut shoes, brown leather gauntlets on either forearm, and an eyepatch. The eyepatch covers Tiz's right eye and features a skull pattern. Ringabel wears a nearly identical outfit, except that his coat has long sleeves, and he foregoes the shoes in favor of brown boots.

Agnès wears a red and gold jacket with a brown belt overtop a white petticoat, alongside a white and pink bicorne with a skull-and-crossbones image. The skull also has an eyepatch and a heart on it. Agnès also wears dark gray leggings, knee-high boots with gray soles, and an eyepatch with a pink heart covering her right eye. Edea's outfit is very much the same, except with thigh-high socks instead of leggings. She also wears large, dark gray gloves that go up to her elbows.

Obtaining[]

Speak to Datz in the House by the Sea. He will talk about a mysterious ship. Just above Grandship, there will be a large mass of fog, simply enter the fog until prompted to board the SS Funky Francisca. Select "yes" and find Barbarossa; a battle will ensue and upon victory he will give the Pirate asterisk.
