Reflect in Bravely Default II
Reflect (リフレク, Rifureku?) is a recurring spell in the Bravely series. When applied to a character, it grants the status of the same name, causing certain types of magic to reflect back to the caster who targeted them. It often appears in entries as a White Magic spell.
Appearances[]
Bravely Default[]
Reflect is a level 4 White Magic spell. It forms a barrier on one target that reflects White, Black, and Time Magic, with some exceptions. It costs 16 MP to use. It can be bought in Hartschild for 1600 pg.
Holly Whyte and Sage Yulyana both use the spell the last time each is fought, group-casting it on both their own party and the player’s party to protect themselves and disrupt their enemies.
Bravely Default II[]
Reflect is a Divination spell, learned at job level 7 for the Oracle job. It places a magic-reflecting barrier in front of a target for two turns. It costs 36 MP to use.
Domenic uses the spell in all battles against him, casting it on himself, allies, or even the player’s characters to disrupt their healing or absorb the damage from his Triple spells to heal himself.
Bravely Default: Praying Brage[]
Reflect was a level 4 White Magic spell available after learning the spell from the Reflect Tome. When used, it would grant the Reflect status for three turns. Crafting the Reflect Tome required players to have a crafting shop level of 5, and would need to gather the following materials - Mythril Paper x2, Magic Stone x3, and Magical Beast Scale x15. It cost 24 MP to perform.
An upgraded version known as Reflect# (リフレク#, Rifureku Shāpu?) also appeared as a level 6 White Magic spell. The spell functioned similarly to the default Reflect spell, but had a faster casting speed. In order to craft the Reflect# Tome, players would need to have a crafting shop level of 19, and would need to gather the following materials - Hieroglyph x35, Archdemon Stone x45, and Molybdenum x8.
Both Reflect and Reflect# could only be used by the White Mage, Spiritmaster, and Sage jobs.

Etymology[]
To reflect something means to send something back, which is represented by the spell’s function of generally sending spells back to the enemy, though it does not totally hold true when a spell is cast by a character with reflect— or one of their allies— on their own barrier.
The Reflect spell originates from the Final Fantasy series, being introduced in Final Fantasy III as a high-level White Magic spell, which is referenced by its role as White Magic in the original Bravely Default. It was part of Time Magic in most Ivalice titles since Final Fantasy Tactics, a change referenced by its role as part of the Oracle job in Bravely Default II, which is a variation on the Time Mage job.
