SP Hourglass in the FMV opening of Bravely Second: End Layer.
The SP Hourglass, also called Strange Hourglass, is an item in Bravely Default and Bravely Second: End Layer.
Profile[]
The SP Hourglass is a moon artifact that collects Sleep Points (SP). The hourglass manipulates the flow of time, most notably to freeze it, allowing the user to continue moving while the world around stops. After acquiring enough SP, it creates a charge that allows the user to activate Bravely Second, pausing a battle to allow the player's part to have a free action at any time. It takes roughly 8 real world hours to create a single charge or 3 charges can be obtained through a SP Drink using real world currency. The hourglass holds a maximum of three charges.
Story[]
Bravely Default[]
After encountering a strange red-clothed adventurer at the Norende Ravine, the Adventurer hands Tiz a gold hourglass, telling him to keep it on him at all times. The Adventurer explains the mechanics behind the artifact and Tiz and his friends use its power throughout their journey.
Bravely Second: End Layer[]
One of the things Magnolia Arch brings from the Moon on her journey to Luxendarc is her silver SP Hourglass, allowing the party to use the power of Bravely Second. At Saggita Village, Lotus takes the hourglass and repairs it, giving it a golden sheen. At the end of their journey, after Kaiser Oblivion enters the time stream, the Moon goes missing and the world's time has stopped. Yew Geneolgia begs to a higher power to go back to a time where they can change things.
Upon starting New Game+, should the player activate Bravely Second, the SP Hourglass allows the four heroes to travel back in time and stop Agnès Oblige's kidnapping. At the end of the battle against Providence, Tiz begins to die without Altair's soul giving him life force. The Adventurer informs them that they can use the power of the SP Hourglass to give Tiz more life, but their current SP Hourglass does not have enough energy. The Adventurer travels into the past and is revealed to be the one who gave Tiz the hourglass in Bravely Default. Since the end of Bravely Default, Agnès has been holding onto the hourglass and quickly heads to Norende Ravine. Filled to the brim with two years of SP, Agnès uses the hourglass to revive Tiz.
