Selene is the White Mage Asterisk holder in Bravely Default II.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Selene is a young women with blonde hair and glasses. As a White Mage, she is dressed in an elegant white coat with black tights, white high-heeled shoes, and a white cap, and she wields the Maidenhair Staff. After losing her Asterisk, she wears a coat with blue, white, and brown.
Personality[]
She is a serious individual, balancing out her more impulsive partner Dag. Though she takes work for the money, leading her into morally wrong actions, she ultimately has a good heart and after losing her Asterisk she begins taking on altruistic work, if outwardly unintentionally so.
Story[]
Alongside Dag, she was hired by Horten to take the Wind Crystal from Princess Gloria so that he could give it to Adam. The two succeed in capturing Gloria and wounding Sir Sloan, forcing Sloan to come deliver the Crystal to them. When the other three heroes and Sloan reach Selene and Dag in the Outlaw's Hideout, they engage in battle, but Selene and Dag are defeated, and Selene loses her Asterisk, running off with Dag.
The two then begin going across Excellent, trying to make money as mercenaries, though they get into various situations where they take actions altruistically instead, with Selene helping people using the healing abilities she had learned. In Holograd, Dag proposes to Selene, and she accepts that proposal.
Gameplay[]
Boss encounters[]
As a White Mage, Selene assists her allies with the supportive White Magic skillset. In the first encounter, she keeps herself and Dag alive by using Cure, casting it on either of the two or both, can boost the power of Cure with the exclusive ability Healing Hands, and also raises the defence stats of herself and Dag with Protect and Shell.
In the seventh Hall of Tribulation, Selene returns with a powered-up White Magic skillset, being able to use an exclusive spell called Full Cure to restore large amounts of HP to herself and her three allies, and she can boost the power of Full Cure with Benediction. She still uses Protect and Shell, but her most threatening addition is Raise All, allowing her to revive any downed allies to nearly full HP. As such, she is an ideal first target, though she can be surprisingly durable due to possessing the first White Mage specialty Angelic Ward. After this fight, she has a chance of dropping her weapon, the Maidenhair Staff, which grants all White Mage passive abilities to the wielder.
Etymology[]
Trivia[]
- After the sub-questline is completed, Selene and Dag can be seen on a rock near the beach in Halcyonia, not far from where Seth was found at the beginning of the game and close to the rare enemy guarding the chest. If the player chooses to, they can hear the two talking to each other, but neither will acknowledge the party.
