Journey of King Godric[]

Fifty years before the events of the game, Sloan was chosen by the Wind Crystal to become a Hero of Light. Being gifted with the Bravebearer Asterisk by Queen Aileen, Sloan joined King Godric of Musa in his quest to stop the Night's Nexus. During their quest, Sloan and his allies aided the various countries on Excillant, stopping a variety of evil entities from causing further chaos.

At the time of the final encounter with the Nexus, Sir Sloan and his allies were overwhelmed by the entity's ability to revive itself endlessly. Believing that the Nexus could be defeated without the need of Godric's sacrifice, he attempts to fight the creature further, but it managed to sever his Asterisk into two halves - one still within Sir Sloan's possession, and the other being cast into the void. With his Asterisk destroyed and his allies close to the brink of defeat, Sloan was forced to watch Godric sacrifice himself to seal the Night's Nexus.

With the Nexus thought to be sealed for another 200 years, Sloan would continue to serve Musa royal line, while also working as a mercenary alongside his comrade and rival Lonsdale.

Boss encounters[]

BD II Sloan Wall of Woe

Sir Sloan using Wall of Woe

As the Bravebearer Asterisk holder, Sir Sloan wields the Sword of Light and uses a variety of Bravery abilities, powerful skills that either deal extreme damage or manipulate BP. Sir Sloan can cause all combatants to gain BP regularly with Dawn of Odyssey or lose BP regularly with Wall of Woe, and he can perform the extremely powerful Victory Smite attack to damage a single foe. He also uses Microgravity, a modified version of the "-gravity" abilities granted by his Asterisk, to deal damage to all enemies proportional to his own current HP.

BD II Sloan Augmented Microgravity

Sir Sloan using Augmented Microgravity

When faced alongside Lady Emma and Lonsdale in the first Hall of Tribulation, Sir Sloan uses even more powerful moves than before, possessing the Bravebearer second specialty True Grit to give himself a BP before each turn and BP Bump to provide BP to all allies while dropping Dawn of Odyssey, leaving only Wall of Woe to drain foes' BP while his own team recovers it. In addition to Victory Smite and Microgravity, he possesses more powerful variants of each, respectively Victory Double and Augmented Microgravity. With the damage of those abilities working in a special manner that is not mitigated by the targets' defence stats, Sir Sloan is a powerful opponent in terms of both BP manipulation and damage output. Additionally, after he is defeated he will revive with half of his health after a few turns unless the battle ends first, requiring one to either take out Sloan's whole team quick or contend with the mighty Bravebearer for the entire duration of the fight.

Spoilers end here.

Companion[]

Sir Sloan accompanies the heroes for the majority of the prologue, lending his strength through his very powerful sword attacks as well as providing support by healing 500 HP and curing status conditions with Musan Medicine and using a Phoenix Down to revive knocked-out allies.
