The Spiritmaster is a job from Bravely Default II. It serves as the game's second dedicated healing job, being able to use Spirit Magic to cast a variety of healing and supportive magics. The job also sports very high magical stats, particularly in restorative areas, and conversely very low physical stats.
The Asterisk holder for this job is Helio, the inquisitor of the Rimedhal Orthodoxy.
Profile[]
As Spiritmasters, all party members will don elaborately decorated white robes. Uniquely, female characters will sport golden tiaras on their heads. The outfit that male characters wear is similar in appearance to Helio's Spiritmaster garbs.
Job overview[]
Spiritmasters are able to summon ethereal beings from the beyond that can impart a range of long-lasting effects.
In-game description.
The core ability of Spirit Magic is summoning a spirit that will perform some recovery effect, on either HP, MP, BP, or status, once every turn for a set amount of turns. Additionally, the Spiritmaster can use light-elemental spells and the supportive recovery spells Regeneration and Reraise.
The Spiritmaster can be especially useful in their ability to support the party in dire moments of battle. One manner is its default Spirited Defence class speciality, which causes any spirit out to aid in preventing the user from receiving any negative status effects and have a chance to survive fatal damage attacks with one HP. Their Holy Mist Special is an excellent support move that can fully restore the HP of all party members, while also providing the party with Reraise and Regeneration.
Once the player achieves job level 12 for the Spiritmaster, the job's There in Spirit second speciality, can either be an excellent boon for the player, or a major hindrance due to the automatic application of all currently learned spirit summoning effects onto the player party. While this can be helpful with the constant effects of Healthbringer, Spiritbringer, and Basunabringer, the major drawback at having this effect active is the constant Purebringer spirit effect, which will automatically dispel buffs on the player's characters. However, once the player unlocks the Lifebringer and Bravebringer abilities at level 13 and 15, it can also be an excellent method to constantly revive KO'd allies and regenerate BP.
While the Spiritmaster’s own healing abilities are generally insufficient due to being gradual rather than instantaneous, its abilities once again complement those of the White Mage well, with Regeneration and Reraise both enhanced by the White Mage’s second specialty Holistic Medicine, allowing either job to be a good sub job for the other.
It is worth noting that Spiritmaster is the only other job besides White Mage with abilities that scale off of the Restorative Power stat, namely Healthbringer, Lifebringer, and its special move.

The Spiritmaster's Special is Holy Mist (ホーリーミスト, Hōrī Misuto?), a supportive ability that restores all allies' HP, and has the extra effect of applying the Regenerate and Reraise effects. In order to perform the move, players must have the character as a Spiritmaster use their Spirit Magic abilities 12 times in battles.
Etymology[]
The Spiritmaster job originates from the Final Fantasy series of games, however it is known as Devout' or Seer, in series appearances. Introduced in Final Fantasy III as an upgraded form of the traditional White Mage job, it learned powerful magic spells not usable by its predecessor.
In the Bravely series, the job initially did not carry the elements of its Final Fantasy job origin when first introduced to the series in the original Bravely Default, which focused on elemental manipulation and damage and status protection. However, later entries such as Bravely Default: Praying Brage began to take influences from the Final Fantasy original, with it becoming an upgraded form of the White Mage job.
While having no direct translation into English, the job's Japanese name of (導師, Dōshi?) has various meanings, often including officiating priests or high priests commonly found in the Buddhist faith. The Buddhist inspirations can be seen with Helio's appearance, sporting a traditional urna (白毫, Byakugō?) found in Buddhist art and culture.
