Elvis using Stonera in Bravely Default II.
Stonera (ストンラ, Sutonra?, lit. Stonra) is an earth-elemental spell exclusive to Bravely Default II. It is the second tier of earth-elemental Red Magic players gain access to, serving as the game's replacement for the series' recurring Quara spell.
Stonera is learned at job level 4 for the Red Mage job. It deals powerful earth-elemental magic damage on a target or all targets on the field. When combined with the Nuisance specialty passive, it has a chance of inflicting the Slow and Stop statuses on the damaged target. It costs 38 MP to cast.
In addition, when Roddy is fought during the events of chapter 2 and within the Halls of Tribulation, he will occasionally cast Stonera against the party.
Etymology[]
The Stone series of spells originate from the Final Fantasy series of games. The spells were first introduced in Final Fantasy XI as series of Black Magic spells, serving as one of the game's methods of inflicting magic earth-elemental damage. Its Ancient Magic upgrade was the series traditional Quake spell, a trait carried over into Bravely Default II.
The "-ra" suffix denotes it is the level two form of the base Stone spell.
