Job overview[]
Swordmasters are unrivalled experts in the way of the blade, able to switch stances in an instant for extra damage or a stinging counterblow.
In-game description.
The Swordmaster is a physical attacking job, with the core gameplay of its Swordcraft command revolving around its two stances, the Solid Stance for double the attacks with the 'Attack' command and the Fluid Stance for automatic counterattacks. While the latter can be more rewarding, the former is more reliable. Each stance has three moves usable only when in it, with the first harming the target, the second helping the user by the same amount, and the third doing both simultaneously. The Solid Stance abilities are standard attacking abilities while the Fluid Stance ones are also counterattacks, leaving the risk of wasting HP by not being counterattacked. To deal with this, as the Swordmaster's natural chance of being targeted is only a C, they can inures the likelihood of being targeted sing Divide Attention.
The Swordmaster has the passive ability Counter for additional counterattacks, as well as the Multitask passive for additional attacks while doing normal attacks. Additionally, the powerful abilities Fourfold Flurry and Ninefold Flurry allow them to perform many attacks in one action. Overall, the focus of the Swordmaster is finding ways to perform as many hits as possible and using their extremely high physical attack stat, combined with a strong sword or dagger, to deal heavy damage to foes, be it as initiating attacks, counterattacks, or both.
