BD II Roddy Tornado

Tornado in Bravely Default II.

Tornado (トルネド, Torunedo? or トルネード, Torunēdo?) is a recurring wind-elemental magic in the Bravely series. It is often a unique wind-elemental spell, being available to different jobs in each installment. It deals wind damage, usually magical, to enemies, and is of varying strength.

Appearances[]

Bravely Default[]

Tornado is a Genome ability that unleashes a wind-based physical attack on all enemies. It is learned from Rukh. It costs 16 MP to use.

Bravely Second: End Layer[]

Tornado is a Spirit Magic spell which deals wind-elemental magic damage to all enemies. Its potency increases proportional to M.Atk and INT, and its properties can be augmented with the use of Spellcraft. It costs 5 MP to use. It can be bought in Al-Khampis and Chompshire for 200 pg.

Due to Bravely Second's unique manner of handling jobs from the previous game, Tornado serves as the game's initial method of inflicting wind magic damage until the player gains access to Aero magic from either the Red Mage or White Mage jobs.

Bravely Default II[]

Tornado is a Red Magic spell learned at job level 14 for the Red Mage job, serving as the strongest form of their Aero-type magic. The spell deals incredibly powerful wind-elemental magic damage on a single target. When combined with the Nuisance specialty, it has a chance of inflicting the Sleep or Silence statuses on the damaged target. It costs 80 MP to cast.

In addition, Roddy is able to cast Tornado on the party when fought in the Halls of Tribulation.

Etymology[]

The Tornado spell originates from the Final Fantasy series of games. The spell was first introduced in Final Fantasy III as a White Magic spell that specialized in reducing the target to critical HP. However, its function as the strongest form of Aero magic originates from Final Fantasy XI.

A tornado is a violently rotating column of air that is in contact with both the surface of the earth and a cumulonimbus cloud or, in rare cases, the base of a cumulus cloud.
