Summon ancient demons to wreak havoc on your foes.
The Yōkai (妖怪, Yōkai?, lit. Spirit) is an asterisk that appears in Bravely Second: End Layer. It is obtained after defeating Yōko.
The Yōkai is an alternative take on the Summoner job, focusing on summoning the seven sin beasts to use their powerful abilities while having excellent statistics all around. With their Diabolism abilities, the Yōkai can decimate enemies in various ways, and with their innate ability Echo, their spells have a chance to repeat themselves with no cost. Their Awakening support ability also allows the player to reach the eleventh level of every job they have unlocked.
Similarly to the Vampire job, the Yōkai is the only class that can learn and use "-ja" tier magic, such as Firaja or Blizzaja, after obtaining them from certain powerful enemies.

Etymology[]
Yōkai when directly translated from Japanese means "bewitching apparition". The name refers to various spiritual beings, sometimes described as demonic, in Japanese legend. Such beings are varied in their morality, being either mischievous and playful to malicious and dangerous beings. The use of fox imagery for the class is derived from the yōkai known as kitsune, who are fox spirits that have grown to become yōkai by various means, from growing in sentience and awareness to being able to live for a certain amount of years, and gain tails in their spiritual growth. While kitsune are popularly seen to become gods upon gaining nine tails, more wicked kitsune known as field kitsune are said to exist, one infamous field kitsune being that of Tamamo no Mae, who plagued Emperor Toba during the Heian Era.
In Christian demonology and imagery, foxes have been associated as beasts indicative and symbolic of the devil. In more folkloric and apocryphal tales of the apocalypse, it is said that a fox will lead the infernal cannibal tribes of Gog and Magog to escape their imprisonment behind the Gates of Alexander to reign terror on mankind.
The "Seven Sins" in the Diabolism skill refer to the "seven deadly sins".
The names of the ones the player summons are the names of the "Seven Princes of Hell", each associated with a deadly sin.
